Root [Boost Mobile] [ROM] DroidSmith 1.7.3 Update and Full

Well it hurt to do it, but I finally had to abandon the legacy kernel that I was using. Two cheers for DownTheMachine for his work on that kernel. DroidSmith now features DMs Alien Kernel with a modified ramdisk by default, so the add on kernel is no longer necessary. I have reworked the updater script so that some apps are installed on the data partition by default. Now if you do not like the installed browser it can be removed through the application manager. The settings menu has been reworked to clean things up a little bit, and LCD density settings have been added to the menu. The stock Mms.apk has been replaced by the Mms.apk from noob, and it has been themed to better match the DS system.

Thanks for the homework :)

I installed Nandroid Manager and then made a backup. The backup is showing in NM and appears all good. Restoring apps+data via NM appears self-explanatory. As for updating to DS1.7 and easily getting my apps installed, is this how to do it?

1. Flash DS1.7
2. Install NM again (because flashing DS1.7 deleted it)
3. NM will recognize the backup I made before flashing DS1.7

That's right. Just pick the apps and data that you want to restore, and enjoy

Drop Box issue again for me, tried twice and had a failure both times at 45 mb:):o

I'm on my laptop with super fast wi-fi, should have had it in about 2 minutes.:(

Because Android can't download zips from 3G...without download crutch. You can extract it from my rom and install as either system or user app if you wish.

Got it downloaded and flashed last night while at work. Good stuff jimsmith. Very fast and stable so far. Liking all the extras here and there. Awesome job.

Besides, if you're downloading a rom over 3G even with downloadcrutch you'll get a broken download. You'll have issues with the rom, just don't do it trust me, only download roms and flashables over Wi-Fi. I got super screwed one day at the mall when I downloaded a rom over 3G and jacked up my camera app.

I'm on droid Smith, but I just got a no tification from boost said that I've reached 85 percent of my data limit. Does this mean I'm getting ready to be throttled?:(

Yes, you cannot avoid been throttled, but with DS rom you do not have any throttle app running in background so you have better performance, etc.

Mercs rom got rid of throttling completely just by removing the services, someone went up to 3GB on that rom and didn't get throttled... but he only removed the throttling services in services.jar just like DS and HJ... so it shouldn't be different on our roms, right?

Its all the same code. Some times you get away with running over the limit some times you don't.
