Root [Boost Mobile] Working ROMS/MODS/KERNELS/MODEMS/ECT for the Boost S3

If you want some input I can let you know which 4.4 ROMs I have successfully flashed and used to one extent or another bro!

Thanks Struckn. That would be great. I def value you opinion and experience bro and if you say it's good to go, there's no doubt in my mind I can take that to the bank bro. ;)

list then and I'll get them posted to the thread. Thank ya Sir! ;):D

Thanks for the kind words buddy! You know I love CM11, and that has run exceptionally well for me, as has CyanFox. I have also flashed Vanir and Commotio (they are in the same thread on XDA, same maintainer), only issue I had was that I couldn't set up my battery widget without it force closing on me, but otherwise both very smooth and nice. Unofficial BAKED also flashes and runs well, BAKED is a personal favorite on my tablet, so I was happy to see a new, albeit unofficial, version for our phones. JellyBAM runs fine too, but you won't find it on XDA, the team behind it was banned for not giving proper credit on some of their cherrypicks way back when, but still a nice ROM. Also, @bthorne79, who is responsible for the unofficial BAKED, has several other ROM's-HellFire and OctoKat come to mind off the top of my head. HellFire was fine on 4.3, haven't tried it on 4.4 yet, and OctoKat is a port of a ROM for the S4. Also newly available is HellKat, not to be confused with HellFire. Both of those might actually be up your alley, they use a red theme, which I know you like! New LiquidSmooth also runs pretty well. That rounds out my list for now, mainly can't wait for official Carbon KitKat!!

Using tapatalk so I've no clue who's what :D lol

But yep, if one of those 2 you can add img to sig :)

I knew you was an AF Contributer but I think you need at least to be a guide without premium for that before you can use the img.

You was? Must've been before my time :p don't remember you being one when I first became one some odd little over a year ago.

It honestly really doesn't make any difference one way or the other here. XDA is where I like advertising the ROM I run. Everyone here knows what ROM I run. I've made it known on many occasions. :D

I was also a Moderator for another forum at the time too. Lordvincent90 was the other Moderator for that site. I'm sure you know who he is seeing as he's a Guide here at AF. ;)

As for being a Guide, I sho nuff was. I was actually invited with references. This was back before things changed and Guides could pick and choose the sections they wanted to operate in. About a month or so after becoming a Guide, the Mods decided they wanted to assign each Guide a certain amount of sections. Pretty sure it was like 6 or 7 sections. I was pretty much just hanging out in the 2 sections where I owned phones. The extra sections plus my work ethic at the time here in AF just got to the point where I was overwhelming myself. I made the decision to step down with much regret. It was then that I realized that nothing much had changed and that i could still come in here when I wanted to and help in the sections that I was familiar with. Also, maintaining my 4.0 GPA was way more important to me that being a GUIDE. To be honest, I really didn't notice much difference other than the part where I didn't have to patrol sections that I had absolutely no knowledge or interest in. :)

In the end, everything worked out perfectly for me. Steven told me I was one of their best Guides and even offered me a position if i chose to come back. Very nice guy and I have the utmost respect for Steven and most of the other Mods. As a matter of fact, a good many of the Guides I was working with are now Mods. That's pretty cool in my book and I wish them the best. Those guys and gals are all great people and I wish them nothing but the best. :)

If you would and have the time, would you send me a PM with the ROMs you tried, what's workig and what isn't so Ill be able to give the members a good heads up on what to expect before flashing the ROM. I would sure appreciate it bro.

Now, I do believe I'll get off here and set up BeanStalk 4.4 and see what's going on with it. I flashed it over and hour ago and have been so busy in here chatting that I haven't even set it up. hahaha ... Time to get busy brother. :)

Running BeanStalk 4.4 right now and it seems pretty darn stable. I've found a few glitches but it is what it is. Nothing major at all. Another good thing I've found is that sms and mms are working perfectly without having to do anything to the xml or APNs. That, my friends is very good news. :D And the testing continues. ------> :)

That one has been my favorite so far and yeah I didn't have to set up the apns either and it worked like butter

How do you guys have it setup? I just did a clean install and no mms it just keeps sending. Have I missed something?

So i messed around with the preferred network types. After switching it from LTE/CDMA/EvDo to CDMA/EvDo it seems to work fine. Does this mean I do not have access to LTE just 3G?

Even though I don't have LTE, I have mine set to LTE/CDMA. Just a heads up with these AOSP ROMs, they have had issues with 4G from the beginning. I wish I could help you with some more detailed info but as I said, I don't have LTE in my area. That being said, the phone automatically reverted to CDMA and that's probably why I didn't have sms, mms issues.

So you just wiped everything including both caches and then just did a clean install and it all worked for ya?

Yep. Well, I actually wiped it a few times. It did take a little while for the 1st MMS to actually go through though. Probably at least a minute or so. I just about stopped it but then I heard the sound Chompsms make when a message is sent. I head it make its whoosh sound and knew it had been sent. A few minutes later it showed up on my wife's phone. The 2nd message took a little while to send too. The few I sent after that went through pretty quick though.

SO I think I'm reading this correctly......under LTE/CDMA/EVDO setting, you get 3g, because 4g doesn't work in your area.....so in that setting it reverts back to 3g for you?

If so, then I have to ask, why isn't mine?

I do a clean flash every time I flash, wether it be 1 second on a rom or 1 yr on a rom, I always always do a clean install/wipe. The wipe I do twice a lot of times, ie: Factory reset, cache partition, dalvik cahce, rince and repeat a 2nd time, then install the rom.

On EVERY single AOSP/CM rom out, I never can get LTE/CDMA/EVDO setting to revert over to 3g at all, never have and still can't.

I use chomp too and remember on the marquee when some were having issues with mms chomp still worked despite the apns not being changed. I wonder if that has anything to do with it?

Strange though how once i set it to CDMA/EVDO I got 3g and things work but not when it has LTE/CDMA/EVDO

Yep exactly, but that's 3g only, and not 4g/lte

That part works fine every single time, just the lte part doesn't, and never has for me, and this pertains ONLY to cm/aosp. Every single touchwiz rom out works just fine....of corse you can't toggle 3g and 3g, it's either 4g/lte/evdo.....or 3g/cdma, the phone reboot when selecting one or the other.

Perhaps the LTE/CDMA/EVDO setting is equvilant to touchwiz LTE/EVDO, and CDMA/EVDO/Auto is equivilant to Touchwiz 3G/CDMA, that's all I can figure it being and that would explain why it doesn't downsize to 3g while on LTE/CDMA/EVDO

UPDATE:
Bingo, I got it to work WOOHOO!!!!!

Where I live 4g/lte is spotty so a lot of times I don't even get it here. I had thought it was an automatic thing for switching, but I guess it's not.

Under tile settings there is an LTE toggle, as well as a data (3g) toggle.

What I do to make it work is, I toggle LTE on and of coarse use it for whatever is needed......then toggle LTE off. Now this will then result in no data at all, so the workaround for this is to toggle data (3g) off then on again and bingo 3g appears.

I JUST put this on again tonight so I am holding reserves for stuff to work until I can test it, I just wanted to pass this on for others.

So with this moar v7 wat do I all need to install it and the link above does moar v7 have the assurets lines removed ? :)

It's TW based so all you have to do is download and flash via recovery, there are no need to edit assert lines. I don't remember but you might have to do MMS fix the first time you run a sprint TW rom.

I'm running MOAR 7.2bata2 and it is running great and I'm liking it... official 7.2 should be released this weekend or sooner

Of course it's all pure speculation at this point but that does sound like a sound, viable theory for it. Wish I knew why the boost mobile variant gets so left out when it comes to the development of rums like CM and other SOP based roms. I know it is very similar to the sprint one and all that but it is different enough to where these things do not work for us but they do on the sprint network.

Okay I'm on mk5 with cm11 ? Is there a problem for going from this to moar ?

I would not think so no, but then again I always do a clean flash no matter what....it's always the safer road.

I am holding off until the official release of v2 or 7.2 or whatever it is. That's all cool too, cause I just got beanstalk installed and got 4g working.....kinda wonky how you have ta get it to work but it works.

looks like beanstalk may be my drop to aosp rom, which is good also, because I've always like beanstalk.

If moar can get the kinks worked out, it'll be moar and beanstalk as my stables.

Actually I think people here have boost, since this is a boost forums :)......but it's really hit and miss.....2 boost phones, side by side, can have the exact same apps, software, etc....and been bought at the exact same time, and you'll have one that really blows, and another that works flawlessly......not a boost thing at all, same goes with sprint phones and other companies as well....it's an oddity that I don't think will ever get solved :).

On a side note look at my post....I got 4g working with beanstalk aosp 4.4KK.

A clean flash will be a must coming from a different rom, so backup your apps... they say MK3 is needed and it's a simple flash, they have the link on the op.

If you can't wait the beta2 is 98-99% working and you would be able to dirty flash the official release... that's how I'm doing it.

I have not been knoxed up, so I'm uncertain about that subject. So do you homework.

Yep, I do a clean flash no matter, so that's never an issue for me. As for knox I'm not knoxed either, so that should not be an issue for me also.
