Nice to see they got a 4.4 twiz, sadly they can't get around the Knox.

I personally don't think I will use it due to Knox, I'll just wait on aosp to get a higher version before I flash.

As for me and Samsung I think I'm pretty well done with their phone(s) namely due to this Knox crap. Clamping down on stuff I buy and limiting my options kinda leaves a sour taste in my mouth, and I personally think this is a bad move for them, but that's just me perhaps. All this anti-apple/iPhone I was seeing from Samsung, it now seems as though Samsung has sunk as low as Apple is with their practices these days, and in my opinion they are right now because of this Knox stuff, no better than apple is.

I will probably be searching around for maybe a nexus phone maybe, dunno yet. I do know at this rate I will probably own my S3 for some time to come.

Yep. I was talking to a buddy of mine yesterday about Sammy and Knox. My next device will probably be a Nexus. They get updates almost immediately. 2 things will prevent my purchasing a Nexus. Hopefully they'll listen to their users and add a removable battery and an SD card. Until then, I won't have one.

I've got a year or so before I have to worry about that so I'm in no hurry. :D
 
hey everybody its been a while since ive even looked in here i got the 4.4 update on my phone havnt installed yet im still on the latest build of moar does anyone know if any devs are working on tw kit kat roms or if any have been realeased as of yet.

It isn't out for Boost. But your phone thinks it's for sprint as you're running Moar. If you want the latest info for the update head over to xda. It has all the threads on development for the nd8 update.
 
Who will skip the tar step hope your not refering to me ive been in this thread since before we had recovery I know this phone inside and out.

Not you. You actually read directions and know what you're doing. I'm speaking strictly of people who don't like to read and learn what they are doing so just jump in hoping someone can help them unbrick if they mess up. lol. ;)
 
well, I'd been up on StaticPower v2 since like, forever... and now the phone starts nagging about an update this morning.

Not sure where to go from here. :o Advice?

Ignore it unless you want to odin flash the tar for the update. It's the kk update for TW on sprint.

It won't indtall anyway since you're on a custom recovery. ;)
 
this sux the update icon in the notification bar is so ugly.

question if i install the kk tw rom from xda am i going to be knoxed up. and what do we lose from being knoxed up?

dumb question just went through the xda thread but my second question remains what do we lose in being knoxed up does it effect custom roms in any way what exactly is knox.

There is actually a way to disable that pesky update notification. It's been awhile since I've seen the thread on it but pretty sure the old way will work for this update too. Shouldn't be very hard to find.

HAH!!! Never mind, found it for ya. Did a quick search and found this. @mydian actually wrote it. In theory, you should be able to edit and add the new info to stop the nagging update notification.

Will someone with more knowledge about this please chime in and verify this older method will work on the new OTA update notification? Thanks:)

I would wait and let someone verify this fix will work on the new update notification.

You will have to use the tar through odin to take that update and yes you will be knoxed up. There's no way to avoid that and probably won't ever be. devs have already bricked their phones trying and probably won't try anymore because of the brick risk. Knox ONLY affects your warranty. If you are beyond the factory warranty you have nothing to lose. The only thing you will NOT be able to do is flash a tar from a previous version as taking an older bootloader will hard brick your phone.
 
Just wanted to let you guys know that I'm back in the flashing mood and have just flashed

Ok.. had to move this post over here after realizing I'd posted it in the wrong thread. DUH!

Got the ROM set up with the DKP kernel and it's running great so far.

Be warned if you try this ROM.... the speaker volume is high as hell. Be very careful and do not turn your ring volume all the way up. It's set up like this for use with headphones. The actual phone speaker can't handle full volume.
 
Just watched the really long video on the sokp site and they def did throw the kitchen sink into this one what ever that means lol but it says the X-Reality doesnt really work as well as it would on a xperia device. Whats your opinion on this Biker and or Kreatur3? is the pic and vid quality any better. i feel like this is when u need a second device to compare side by side.

It actually looks pretty darn good. I haven't tested out the audio yet. Plan on doing that tonight. I'll let you guys know how the test run goes. So far so good.

You're not on stock, so... Just download the ota update and except the install... It will fail because your not 100% stock and you won't get nagged any more.

Dude! This thing rocks! I've got it set up and running through Player Pro with its DSP pack and it is LOUD and sounds great! Had to set the Player Pro DSP pack EQ to custom settings but I'm jamming to some Tool right now and it's impressive.

***PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS ROM'S VOLUME IS MAXED OUT AND YOU MAY VERY WELL DAMAGE THE PHONE SPEAKER IF TURNED UP TOO HIGH. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE VOLUME TURNED DOWN BEFORE TRYING TO PLAY MUSIC FROM THE SPEAKER. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. THIS ROM WAS DESIGNED TO PLAY MUSIC THROUGH HEADPHONES OR EXTERNAL SPEAKERS. ***

I tried the Walkman. It's part of the add on package which contains a bunch of cool Sony apps in it. Didn't see an EQ for the Walkman though. I've just started playing with it but I am impressed with the ROM. All kinds of neat stuff from Sony. Gotta make sure that you flash the add on package though.

I'm gonna enjoy playing around with this ROM for sure. I'll definitely be adding it to the AOSP section of this thread. :thumbup::D

I agree with you about the boot animation. It's bad 2 the bone.

It's amazing what a person can find when they read the OP. lmao!! The ROMs are having more and more options and it really pays to read EVERYTHING in the OP nowadays. I remember when all you had to do was read the flashing instructions and that was all there was to it. Those days are long gone. This ROM's thread and the KitKat thread from Cnexus are 2 prime examples. He has MUST HAVE info listed under "MANDATORY PREREQUISITE". Not in the flashing instructions. From this day forth I will read everything in the OP. Even the stuff I don't think I'll need. I just found the answer to my own question in the stuff I just glanced at instead of giving it a thorough read. :p:D

I actually had one of the Sony Walkman phones at one time but it was stolen by a piece of scum, supposed friend of a friend. I'm sure many of you know what I'm talking about.

Anyways, it feels kinda neat to have the Walkman on a phone again. It has channels of music to choose from. I've just got to figure out where the EQ settings are for it. I looked but the EQ isn't listed in the Walkman settings. Any of you have an idea how to adjust EQ with the Walkman app? I need to do some reading.

As for the ROM itself, I've only scratched the surface of what it can do and I'm already liking it very much. It has some cool camera features that I need to read up on too. Yep.......... I'm definitely gonna spend some time getting to know this ROM.

If any of you decide to try it, please share anything you find that you think is cool and you think others would like to know about. :thumbup:

THE SOUND IS AMAZING!!!!! HOLY FREAKING SMOKES. I CAN TELL A BIG DIFFERENCE WITH THE EQ WIDGET. IT TAKES A MINUTE TO GET THE HANG OF IT. YOU TAP THE EQ TAB AND IT WILL TELL YOU WHAT ITS SETTING IS. ROCK, POP, CAR STEREO, CLASSICAL, CUSTOM, ETC. WILL BE DISPLAYED ON THE LOWER PART OF THE SCREEN. JUST KEEP TAPPING IT UNTIL YOU GET TO THE ONE YOU WANT. EITHER THAT OR SET YOUR OWN CUSTOM.

YEP..... I'M JAMMIN' FO SHO. :D

THIS ROM HAS AN ADD-ON PACKAGE THAT CONTAINS A GOOD MANY COOL APPS. MANY OF THEM ARE BY SONY.

AS ALWAYS, PLEASE READ THE OP. I THINK MANY OF YOU WILL BE SURPRISED WITH THIS ROM AND WHAT ALL HAS BEEN BAKED INTO IT ALONG WITH THE ADD-ON PACKAGE. :D

The whole thing is that I see everyone is now on this philz thing.

Also, I don't want that knox crap, which is the whole clinching reason I decided to switch. But I don't know what to switch to. And the fact that the phone rather obnoxiously interrupts what I'm doing to try and make me update Really grates on me.

But I don't know what to run next. I liked StaticPower because it gave the stock feel, but seemed to run much better on battery than MOAR. I would want to run 4.4, but not with Knox.
