Root [Boost Mobile] Working ROMS/MODS/KERNELS/MODEMS/ECT for the Boost S3

Nope. This is the 1st I've heard of it. Glad the wife and I are grandfathered. This is the 2nd time Boost has tried this crap in the past 3 yrs. 1st it was taking away our $35 payment if we upgraded. What kinda bonus is that for buying a new phone? Whoever thought that up needs to be BITCH slapped. You see that they have now dropped the sign-on back to $35. Still, it's only for a short period.

Now they are making another major change. Come one Boost. I'm not gonna be keeping this S3 forever. I may just kick you to the curb and go with a better service provider. Sprint/Boost is always the last to update their towers when something new comes out. Their coverage also sux compared to some of the plans that are very close in price.

Damn. Was hoping someone would chime in with how they got it working Lol. They are working on a v6 that will run on a cm11 base instead of v5 which runs on cm10. Hoping that maybe I can learn to port and use our cm11 as the base. Have to sit and wait for the release for v6.

Yeah that's what I'm saying they keep screwing over long time customers and they make us want to get someone else they can't match everyone else's plan because that's the only reason I'm with boost they're cheap it's not like they have good coverage or the newest phones and now with this throttling to 2g if we surpass the cap I'd rather go with someone else's network with at least decent coverage and a pretty decent phone selection all we have to choose from as far as good phones are the s3 or iPhone and upcoming s5 while even metro pcs already has the s5 they're last in everything and now they're pulling bs again I think their marketing goal is to run off all the long time customers

Yeah I don't want to wait im anxious lol I just want the data on the rom and I'll be happy. The camera could be broken no mms lol just give me data and bluetooth and I'll be good, I might fit time into my schedule to learn how to port I've heard people say they learned through Google so.

I meant Xiao or whatever their name is that develop official MIUI. It will be awhile before it's officially released so even longer before we could attempt a port. I downloaded an older version of MIUI. Going to see if I can flash that, get it all working, then dirty flash the newest MIUI and still have data.

Interesting let me know if you get any success sound like it could work and yeah Xiao hasn't officially released anything since 4.2 I believe I didn't know what's going on with them

It appears that v6 will be based on kk. Crossing my fingers. :)

Side note. A new build of dirty unicorns dropped 5/1. I haven't tried it yet but it was an awesome rom back when it was my daily on the evo 3d.

Yep. Dirty Unicorns is nice. Probably going to try it too. Just DLed CM11 snapshot and the latest Carbon. Time to get my flash on! :D

Busy man today lol! I need to do my MIUI test but going to try du real quick first.

I also flashed the new hellfire rom. Seemed cool but was disappointed by the lack of red theming. Hoping they up the theme built into it. However it's worth flashing just to see the cool flash image and boot animation. Lol

There are several things that you can set the gestures to do, screenshots are just one of them.

It creates a subdirectory under clockworkmod on your external SD card.

Quick update about MIUI. I couldn't get data to work, for the life of me, on the recent builds. I finally flashed the newest build of MIUI with our old version of the apn fix and 4g works perfect. I'm not sure what the difference is between the old and new apn fixes for boost but the new one doesn't play well with MIUI and yet the old one does perfectly for both data and mms.

Side note. Now that I figured out data for MIUI, sort of, I'm going to give carbon a try with the newest nightly. :)

I'm not sure what the difference is in the apn fixes but once of these days, when I have time at a computer, I might open them both up and see what would possibly cause one to work with MIUI and not the other. It's weird...

Yep. Wy and I were talking about the APN fixes awhile back. He mentioned that the old one worked well for him. I've had trouble with Liquidsmooth not picking up 4G while in the city with the new fix. Looks like I need to try the old one. Chances are it just may work. :D

Let us know, I know you will, we might have to take another look at the two fixes and figure out how to make them better for all builds.

Me too I might try it but I think it's the rom though because I was on the latest cm 11 nighty earlier and the signal seemed extremely weak and now when I switched to carbon it still seems weak so I'm sure it's something with cm coding that's messing with the signal even as I'm typing this my phone is telling me I have no service sometimes it stays like that until I reboot it
Only time I even really get 1x now is if I'm in a open location in a house or building it's a no go lol
 
I'm headed to the city today. I'm going in with the new APN fix running LS. I'm gonna give it a try 1st. If it doesn't work, like it hasn't in the past for that ROM, I'll have the old APN fix on my sd card and flash it. I will get 4G on LS one way or another today! LOL!!!!! :p

Either fix should work. I seem to have a little better luck with the old one, but I don't know why.

Just got my throttle email from Boost. This is what LTE looks like now. I can't wait to see 3g.

Got bored this morning and decided to try out the sprint stock nd8 TW kitkat on my boost gs3. The only problem I ran into was getting stuck at the "Samsung" screen during boot. But getting thru that was pretty easy. I odined latest philz, boot to recovery, wipe data, cache, delvik and under philz setting I checked "re-root System (superSU)" and uncheck "verify root on exit" and that was it. It booted to set up screen just fine after that. I can confirm that I have root, 4g, mms, sms, wifi, and camera-which are all important to me.
