Root [Boost Mobile] Working ROMS/MODS/KERNELS/MODEMS/ECT for the Boost S3

Right now I'm on SlimKat, both simply because I'd been rather busy, and not had time to really evaluate anything else.

Problem is I don't know what else to really try here.

If you want to try something and don't know what just try them all! ;) As long as you keep a backup of your current setup there's nothing to lose. Hell I've flashed roms that haven't been supported or updated in a year just to try something new. Hi my name is Dustin and I'm a flashaholic. :)

I value stability, and usability. LiquidSmooth got rather crash happy with me. SlimKat is less so. The thing that still sticks out for me with both of these AOSP style ROMs so far is the absolute lack of a way to update your profile or PRL. Is there a solution for that available?

I can also speak fairly confidently that the shipping camera sucks hard. Just seems to decide on its own whether or not it actually wants to save a picture. :(

They do not have a way to do that. You can always make a backed up wherever you are flash moar make a back up and whenever you want to do that flash the backup change everything and then flash back to wherever you were or left off from.

You can flash back to MOAR and change your PRL. It will stick when you flash Liquidsnmooth.

Got my message today saying I'm throttled due to data usage. Here's my throttled speed test.

... Yeeesh. I wish I had that kind of speed. Right now I can definitely feel the pain of throttling. Other than loading mobile-friendly pages, I can hardly do anything. I certainly can't even attempt to watch anything on youtube, or netflix for that matter.

I was streaming Pandora on it. Although it got choppy when my connection went back to 3g. Luckily it's only throttled today. New cycle starts tonight.

I used to last year.. apparently Chicagoland, or at least the tower where I am, is getting congested. I'm about 20 minutes from down town Chicago.

Ahhhhh!!! Good old Chicago. I did both my bootcamp and A-school at Great Lakes. There are some hopping places in that city. The most memorable were a few bars on the corner of State and Division. Yup, my mates and I had some great times in Chicago back in the day. :)

The last time I was up there was in 2006 I believe. A buddy of mine had bought a BMW race bike up there. We rented a pickup in NC and drove nonstop to Chicago. We ended up staying at his cousin's condo right off the lake downtown, picked up the bike early the next morning and were on the road again back to NC and then on to SC. Sadly we didn't have the time to stay longer. My buddy is a Capt. for American Airlines and was due to fly out 2 days after we returned home. It would've been nice to stay for a few days but we just didn't have the time. I know you guys wouldn't want a sleepy pilot in the cockpit. LOL!!!!! Still, it was nice to catch a glimpse of the skyline lit up at night. It's really a sight! ;)

Guys. For those of you who have flashed the KitKat update and haven't tried Wicked-X out yet, give it a try. It's still a work in progress but Ryan and the other members are doing an outstanding job getting this ROM up to speed. There are a few things that need to be added to the 6.2 build that didn't come with the ROM by default. I'm sure they will be added in the one of the next releases. There are zips that will add these missing options so it's really not a big deal. The hotspot in the ROM doesn't work but a zip fix has been made to unlock it. It's as easy as flashing it via Phliz. The data toggle is also missing from the tiles. It also has a zip fix for it too.

The guys over there are doing an outstanding job getting this ROM where it needs to be. The things I've mentioned are minor and have already been addressed with zip fixes. There are also 2 themes. One is the PCB theme and the other is a stock theme. From what I understand, a few more are already in the works. There are also quite a few mods for the dropdown and Dazed has also created a custom pulldown systemui. This ROM hasn't been out long at all and is already an excellent daily driver. It's getting better by the day.

I have yet to see how it switches from 3g over to 4g but I'll be testing that out this week. If I run into problems I'll try the APN fix my MopedRyder and see how that works. I'll report back and let you guys know what's what.

For those of you who are running Wicked-X, please feel free to share what you think of the ROM and what you have done to yours. If any of you have made your own personal mods and wish to share, please feel free to do so. Anything you have to add on the subject is welcome here.

Thanks,
Biker

Tried LiquidSmooth again...

It keeps crashing on android.phone and android.systemui, which forces it to kinda soft-reboot everything and kick me back out to the lock screen. Needless to say, it's really aggravating. This is certainly not what I'd consider stable. And SlimKat has not been much better, either.

Any recommendations?

Same here I couldn't take it so I just went to aokp it's smooth animations are like butter almost iPhone like if I say so myself and I'm not having any fc or issues and the signal isn't weak like mine was on the newest cm11 nightly I tried and roms based off it
Slim Kat is good too it's just too plain for my taste customization wise

Well, as I said before, I want stability and battery life. And of course, being able to use it. So far the transition from TouchWiz to this AOKP stuff has not been smooth at all, if this is what I have to go by as far as the effort.

I went back to AOKP. Very stable and smooth.

Everyone's device is different, but I go for battery life and stability also.

Wicked x was way cool, but too bloated for my personal tastes is all. I tend to go very bare bones. There's something out there for you.

Yeah I hear you but aokp is stable right now and I'm getting great battery life but you also have to remember a lot of these roms are nightly builds so they're not going to be all the stable anyway yeah it sucks but in time everyone will get it right the only rom that had a official release was liquid smooth and as we see its still very buggy so just take everything with a grain of salt if need be you could also run try running older builds some of them where very good for ls

Which AOKP are you referring to?

Just tried flashing SOKP here. I can appreciate trying to give the dolby digital driver, as that would be a lot more impressive than the BeatsAudio that HTC provides. However, it has a number of problems as well from first boot.

  • It won't let me update Xposed framework. At all. Or a number of the apps that depend on it.
  • It won't even let me put widgets on the screen that I would want to have, such as the calendar or evernote.
  • it too keeps crashing on android.systemui, which surreptitiously kicks me out of whatever I'm doing and forces me back to the lock screen.
What the hell, guys?

AOKP? Yes, I just finished flashing that... and right out of the gate, the keyboard process stops working. So I can't even finish the initial setup.

... *expletive* seriously!? Why are there so many roms that don't *expletive* work?! Does anyone ever actually test any of these roms before shoving them on us? :(
