Hello, I am on a boost s3, rooted and custom rom. Does anyone know if and when we will be getting a official google update to 4.2 or 4.3? THanks

i havent had any GPS so far...
I dont think the built in wifi tethering works, i could get a connection to my computer but it displayed no internet access. i have yet to try usb tethering yet.
the built it performance settings should be fine because they unlock when using this kernel.
finnaly got a full charge of battery, ill report back on how it goes.
EDIT: battery life is friggen awesome

really? haven't experienced one reboot yet.
interesting
:thumbup:
I have GPS working and WiFi tethering using a separate app.
Well you get the choice, WiFi hotspot and gps with reboots or no reboot... Lol cool..
Sounds like they should be able to iron things out

GPS worked immediatly for me.
wifi hotspot is acting wierd and is a known issue on 4.3 ROMS( done some research )
many people are having problems trying to share their connection using 4.3
have you tried the kernel that i linked? maybe the stock kernel has some problems.
if you install Vanir using the modified link, Moped replaced the stock kernel with a kernel from CM.
i replaced it again with the one i linked. try installing the modified version?

Yup.

Here we go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1st....You'll need to install Notepad++ to edit the script. There are others out there but this is the one I prefer.
You can download it free from the internet. You'll see the FREE version out to the right of the screen once you click the link.
Notepad++ v6.5 - Current Version Select the FREE version.
Open the ROM zip and navigate to META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script. Open the file with Notpad++.
In most of the AOSP based ROMs you'll see a list of compatible modems.
The 1st one I edited for The Collective, I removed them all. After a bit of thinking, I'm now choosing to leave the other modems and add the modem I needed. Kind of a safety thing in case someone gets hold of one with a different device and has no idea what they are doing. No safety measures = BRICK!
This is the one I modified from Vanir. You'll see the stock Boost modem I added.
EXAMPLE:
assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "d2spr" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "d2spr" ||
getprop("ro.product.device") == "d2spi" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "d2spi");
assert(getprop("ro.bootloader") == "L710VPAMG2" ||
getprop("ro.bootloader") == "L710VPBMA6" ||
getprop("ro.bootloader") == "L710VPBMB1" ||
getprop("ro.bootloader") == "L710VPBMD4" ||
getprop("ro.bootloader") == "L710VPAMD7");
Pay close attention to what you're doing The easiest way is just remove one and add your own. Make sure you add the baseband exactly as it's found on your device under BASEBAND VERSION in your phone's settings. Once you've removed one and added yours, close out and choose to save it. You will be asked if you want to save the changes with the script and then you be asked if you want to save the changes to the archive. Select YES to both. If you've done it properly, you'll be able to open it back up and it should reflect the changes you have made like in my example above.
These are put in the ROM to save people from flashing ROMs on incompatible devices and bricking. I advise you to use this form of editing with extreme caution. I'm sure you will, just be careful.
Hope this helps you.If you have any questions shoot me a PM.
Ahhhh, I gotcha now. That's for a kernel the overclocks. Even though I run the KToonsez kernel, I vary rarely OC it.
From the looks of Vanir, no OC is gonna be needed. This sucker is fast!
You don't need to use a PC, I've been doing this on my phone with Fx extractor from the Playstore. You can unzip the zip file within the app, edit the update script and rezip it.

Cool and thanks for your suggestion.
I never said a PC was the only way to do it. He asked how I did it and I told him. I also stated in the 2nd or 3rd sentence in my post that I used Notepad++ and that there are others out there but this is the one I prefer.
Anytime I mess with altering scripts or testing a Sprint ROM not made for or tested on my Boost S3, I do it on or near my computer where I have immediate access to Odin, adb, or Linux if need be for Shabby's fix.
It also helps me when I upload the modified scripts for the tutorials. I pull a copy of the original, change what needs to be changed, zip it up and upload it to MediaFire.
It's all just much easier for me to do while I'm sitting at my desktop.![]()
Hello! I would like to try the vanir 4.3 rom. I went on the vanir xda thread but could not find where to download this rom, I did download the 4.3 gapps from there though. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I did not see it next to the gaps, I just checked it again a minute ago. Any suggestions?
Thanks for letting me know. For some reason I thought that was all 1 link for the gapps. Silly me lol

Just flashed the vanir rom and I'm getting that android.process has stopped. Anyone have any ideas??
