Root Boostmobile HTC evo 4G

I'm sure i'm not the only one with a Boost Evo. i wanted to see if any1 else has had this problem before and was able to find the solution.

I was flashing roms, i've flashed over 100 roms before so i have a pretty good idea on how to do it. today i did it like i usually do, erase all the necessary things, the usual.

The Problem: i was trying to send a text and they were not going through, so i decided to call, my call doesn't go through, instead i get this message: "Your account could not be validated, please contact customer service".

Solution?, help would be greatly appreciated. I've tried flashing 3 different recoveries with the same result, i don't know what could have caused this, and i'm kind of afraid to call customer service as i have an Evo for boost.

Are you able to flash a different ROM and fix the problem?

Or restore a nandroid (is this what you meant by discovery?) to fix it?

ived flashed three different recoveries, and each is a different rom, and flashed different rom also, and no, still no fix =/

it is only an assumption on my part. as you do not have voice or data working. the only thing i can think of is updating the radios, but i'm not sure if that helps or would make your situation worse.

i cant send calls or texts, but i do have 3g, i checked my settings and it says my service state is active, i will try updating radios right now, ived done it plenty of times before with no problem, thx for the idea :)

just updated my radios, no luck =/, i might just call boost to see what they say about my account, avoiding the question about what phone i have lol.

Did you do the flash yourself? If you so you need write the NV items again through CDMA from your donor phone. Also you need to program your profile 0 and profile 1 usernames and passwords off your donor phone. If you did not flash it yourself you need to have it reflashed again. No way around it. I never use a custom rom on my boost evo because of that very reason. You never know what was put on that ROM that may not be intended for boost settings. I recommend the latest stock rooted gingerbread rom. you can always delete the sprint apps and other excess apps.

[ROM][STOCK][Rooted] 4.53.651.1 - Odexed & De-Odexed - xda-developers

Also update your radio:

thx for the info, and no i didnt flash myself, and i cant reach the person who flashed mines, so idk what im gonna do =/.

i also recently updated my radios. and ived flashed soooooooo many roms (well over 20) on my phone without a problem. but i think the rom that did this was MIUI =/.. which im still running, since it doesnt matter not, ived also tried running previous roms, and restores, but still not able to call or text, but 3g still works on any rom i flash, including MIUI

You need a partial reflash not the entire thing. Your profile 0 and/or profile 1 sections of the phone which hold your boostmobile username and password information registered with them is messed up. Do you still have your donor phone that was used for the flash?

i didnt have a donor phone at all, got the phone with boost on it already.

You my friend are (insert nasty word here) sorry to say. I don't know if you know this but the way it works to get a non boost phone which includes the EVO onto boost you need a "donor" phone. By that I mean a boost mobile phone that works on the CDMA network and is capable of 3G internet access. For example the Sanyo Incognito. That phone's information is then cloned onto your new phone which is the EVO in this case. When your EVO was flashed originally there was a donor phone. If you had the donor phone you would be able to take the necessary information and clone it back onto your EVO. In your case you have no donor phone to work with. Which leaves you with two choices:

1. Buy a donor phone and flash it yourself
2. Buy a donor phone and get it flashed.

DO NOT do a mail in service that does not ask you for a donor phone. They will use some cheap donor phone that they have probably used on 10 other EVOs. This is important because after the flash the donor phone is still functional. Meaning you are paying 1 boost mobile bill for 2 phones.

hmmmm, wow thx, it makes more sence, ughhh (frustration) lol, i have no way of reaching the person who did it for me =/, and the donor phone that was used for mines was a samsung phone, i think the messager II, but wow 0.0... i reallyyyyy do not wanna leave my EVO haha, im sure u understand. But i also think $80 a month is a lot =/

EVO is a great phone. You can pick up a sanyo incognito on ebay for a relatively cheap price and use that as your donor. The samsung rant is another good choice but a bit harder to find. I can send you a guide via email on how to flash it but beware it is a pain in the ass. I'm an IT specialist and it took me all day to figure that shit out and properly flash my phone. If I were to do it again I would pay somebody to do it for me and provide them the donor. I wouldn't trust a mail in service though. Try to find somebody locally on craigslist or your local cell phone store.

In the end you'll pay $80 a month, trust me.
I watched my brother do it month after month, until he realized it was smarter to just get a sprint account and sign the contract. It ended up being cheaper. He was an idgit and used the crap out of it, but thats beside the point.

well i was paying 45 a month :D, and i was gonna pay 40 next month haha, so id need a more elaborate explanation hehe

Having the exact same problem. I've been careful to compare QPST Profiles 0 and 1 from my donor phone, a TP2, and they all match. The 3G is working perfectly, but the voice has a ROAMING single and does not validate calls or text, get the generic message that my account could not be validated.

Thanks,

JN

I need super duper help, I've got an Evo 4g I'm trying to Flash to Boost.. but I don't have a doner phone.. I have everything else can you please tell me how to proceed with no donor.. guide, tips anything... Please help guys

From my very limited knowledge of people using Boost you NEED a donor phone. You are basically copying that phones information to your EVO so the boost network thinks that you are a compatible phone.

Big thanks to armeN for answering the above questions, we don't have a whole lot of people with extensive boost knowledge on here it seems.

im moving out of the boost flashing, yes more expensive bill, but less headaches >.<. now i just need a new phone, my evo had the endless bootloop, which ived tried fixing and nothing seems to work.
