This gives me a seizure lol

I must be doing something wrong. I've got my bootscreen partially working, I just can't get the final sequence of images to work. There are 23 320 x 480 PNG's that form a loop animation in the 3rd part. It goes through the first folder fine, then the second, then the third doesn't play. There is sufficient time (15 seconds) until the lockscreen.

Here is the desc.txt file if anyone is curious.

Code:
320 480 10
p 1 0 part0
p 1 20 part1
p 69 0 part2

i can't believe i got it on the first try. these intructions are really good if they helped me get it ... is there a way to make it loop? i am using the metropolis one and it just sits there once it is done. no big deal jw

Here is the full way to do this on a mac for people who don't know how to use terminal.
"username" is your username. change it.
The directory used in this example is "Desktop"
The folder name used in this example is "Folder"
Remember: Terminal is case sensitive
Make sure your bootanimation.zip is in the same folder as your adb file
Make sure USB Debugging mode is on (Settings -> Applications -> Development tools -> USB Debugging)

[Resizing the desc.txt file]

1. Open up Terminal
2. Unzip the folder
3. Change the size in the desc.txt file and then save the file. Change it to:
Code:
320 480 210
p 1 0 part0
p 0 0 part1
[Rezipping with 0% compression]

4. This changes to the folder directory
Code:
cd /Users/username/Desktop/Folder
5. This zips your directory with 0% compression
Code:
zip -r0 bootanimation.zip *
[Pushing your bootanimation.zip to your phone]
6.
Code:
/Users/username/Desktop/android-sdk-mac_86/tools/adb
7.
Code:
/Users/username/Desktop/android-sdk-mac_86/tools/adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local/
If step 7 doesn't work, try the following command:
Code:
/Users/username/Desktop/android-sdk-mac_86/tools/adb push /Users/username/Desktop/android-sdk-mac_86/tools/bootanimation.zip /data/local/

OMG! It keeps saying zip warning: zip file empty for step 5.

Is anyone able to get sounds to work during boot animations? I have tried every combination of boot.mp3 and android_audio.mp3 being in /system/media or /data/local, as well as alongside the bootanimation.zip or within the zip, and nothing will work... it's driving me insane! The animation works fine in either directory, but the sound just isn't happening for some reason :(

Like someone posted before, my /data folder is empty, but in the /system/media/bootscreen folder there is a .gif file named "boot" and a .xml file named "boot-animation." I used the adb command to send my bootanimation.zip file (decepticon lol) to the bootscreen folder, then rebooted to see if it worked. It still used the stock boot animation though. I am running EE v.4, any help?

i can't get the adb drivers to work for my Eris in Windows.

I can do this without drivers in Ubuntu though.

Anyone have the same issue?

I think you may need to install HTC sync and then Un install it. This will setup the drivers and then remove the program, leaving the drivers in place. After that, adb should work. Make sure you put your droid's usb in debugging mode!

Here is an animated gif I made from a droid commercial if someone wants to make boot animation from it. I am total noob to droid and dont know how as of yet.

Finally got mine to work. Turns out I was using .PNG instead of .JPG. D'oh!

Hi, I'm new to android. I have successfully rooted my phone with z4root, applied velocity .3 rom (thanks to Android Ally) and have changed the boot animation to cyborg. I have been attempting to create a boot animation from the Resident Evil 3d umbrella animation. I have successfully created the gif, extracted png images into part0, created a desc file, and zipped the two into bootanimation.zip. I installed w/ the terminal emulator but it goes from verizon animation to black screen to fully booted. if anyone could help thanks.
Desc.txt
480 720 22
p 0 0 part0

pictures = 256x256
pictures from 480_427_00000 to 480_427_00085

I would post the zip and gif but the "manage attachments" is having problems

Nice tut...but doesnt work for me :(
Adb says the fie has been pushed ,when i restart i still have the old bootanim ? :(

phone is rooted +s-off ...

Thanks for the post! I love the Cyborg animation, who created that one? I made a custom boot mp3 to go along with the it. Its packaged in with the cyborg animation tailored to fit my LG Vortex. (don't "boo" my cheap android phone, its my first ;) )

Heres the link.

Let me know what you think. I made the mp3 in about 5 minutes using apple loops in garageband.

Thanks again! :D
