Root Boot Animations for the Ultra

OK guys first of all if you mess up your phone its your own fault not mine and always , always make a back up first now that we have root and cwm ( thanks to interdpth) there is no excuse not to have a back up. ok steps below were tested and worked fine on 5 transform ultras

1. get root (if you have it skip this step) link below

2. install clockwork-mod-recovery (if you have it skip this step) link below

3. boot recovery by powering off your phone and pressing and holding the power on and volume key at the same time until the samsung screen appears then release only the power key until recovery boots. once in recovery pick backup and restore and then pick backup. it will create a back up for you.

4. download bootanimation.zip (link below) and place it on your phones sd card.

5. reboot into recovery and pick install zip browse to the file DecepticonEyesultra.zip and install .

6. Reboot and enjoy the epic eyeness !!!!!!

7. I will never share anything I havent personally loaded to my phone so no worries.

if you guys got any boot animations you wanted ported over to the ultra let me know ill see what i can do. i got one i made from a youtube video of a guy turning into a android while texting on an android i may post also.
 
I would like a superman one. I found images of it on other android forums but cant find any links to a real one :/

thanks i added a call of preview its looks better on the phone the gif maker is buggy for previews . i am also about done with a super man one for ya .

thank you. Very grateful. Now just to figure out how to get the phone from saying transform ultra and samsung off at the beginning.
 
I've been trying to make this one work but can't get it to for the life of me. It just keeps showing up with a black screen. Can you possibly help me with it?

do you want this to loop until boot or stop on the last pic and sit ?

I'd like it to loop for the last bit if you could. I made one that is better and without the .gif stuff at the bottom but i'm having trouble uploading it to the site.

it will be fast and will stop on the last image . the problem is the png's what ever is making them is making a 320 x 480 image but a 480 x 320 so i had to cut all the pics and resize this should work .
also when making these yourself use no compression in the zip util set it as store compressed images cant be opened and used as boot ani's

Still saying its aborting using cwm and also failing by root explorer. I'm really trying to do it without any help... I've gone through alot of walkthroughs and none of those seem to get this working. I did change the format of these to jpeg since one said to use those.

what are you using to make these images because its a dual layer image the image inside is not the same size as the pic .the border stays the same which is whats tripping up the phone if you want to see what i am talking about use something to flip the image around the border will be more visible then
 
for some reason i cant move files (tried too change boot animation and startup sound) to internal memory. with file expert (mounted read/write) nothing happens, with andexplore get message cant move file to directory. with file explorer get an error message something about java. any ideas?
 
Just to make sure I got it right u are trying to move a bootanimation.zip and poweron.snd from memory card to their correct locations in system memory replacing stock ones ? Have u delete the original ones before trying the move ?

or renaming the original ones will work too eg.

bootanimation_old.zip and Poweron_old.snd

That will allow you to save them in case you want to restore them at a later time..

I see a lot the TU users are trying to use free root file explorers.. I think I've tried just about all of them and they suck. there is no substitute for Root Explorer.. It's a must have if your a root user. it comes with a zip, tar, and rar viewer/extractor, a text editor, an SQLite database viewer, a linux script handler, and an apk installer and it will MOUNT /system as R/W(read/write) so you can actually change /system files.
If you don't MOUNT as R/W, you can't change a system file. those other app will only let you browse the /system files as root but not change them. there are a few free ones that do but they suck too. either they are too complicated or they are buggy..

I'm so not one to go crazy buying apps. I will search high an low for a free one that does it but I've found that there are just a few that you need to buy if you are a root user or you develop for android.

Root Explorer is imo one of them, best $3.99 ive spent on an app yet..

Nice Bootanis Teachme! like the transformer one a lot and the SM one too.

yeah x2 . was able to move bootanimations with root explorer. thanks mavrikmeercat, root explorer is my new favorite. powering.snd are moving but seem to play too fast. get high pitched squeeks.

a great app is bootanimation changer from market. the lite has a list of about 20 great animations. check out tardis and BIOS. And there's a variation of the all popular "android peeing on apple"

Yeah I've used the lite version quite a bit too on my prevail and they had some cool ones. works pretty nice too.

I've manually changed them quite a bit too. As for your problem with the sound..

the only format that android will accept is "uncompressed audio"
NOT mp3, oog, m4a, etc. only WAV

you can use mp3 but you have to convert it to WAV.
Here is a good free one for windows:
Free Audio Converter: free audio converting software

NOTE:
if you convert mp3 to WAV the volume of it will be low so you have to edit it with an some audio editing program to amplify it and you would also be able to trim it, add effects and such. I use Audacity in windows and linux cause it's free and it's just as good as a $300 pro app. once you export your edited file, just rename it to poweron.snd (remove the .wav extention off the end) and move it to /system as you do now and it will work just fine.
But the easiest way is to just find the sound you want in WAV already

have been trying with wavs, still playing sound at fast speed. tried disabling fast boot (I'm using mree rom ) didn't help

thats a new one on me then if you're already using wav files. It always works for me. check with smith and see if he did somthing to boot.img to effect that. I couldn't say for sure cuz I don't use MrRee???

on MrRee???RoM, i havent done nothing to the boot sound... only changed animation
 
Teach Me,

Can you please fix this one for me? It's the one Chevanlol used in his theme, but I can't get it to install separately when I choose the zip file. I get "installation aborted".

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
