Root Boot Animations, shutdownanimations and extras

I know on the connect when we finally got boot sound function it was a mp3 file that was there in the folder.

Since we're here, how can you enable a boot sound? Maybe by placing a mp3 file in the media folder with the bootanime, or is something else needed?

It may or may not work on this phone, but go to /system/media/audio/ui and place an mp3 there and name it Bootsound.mp3

Make sure your mp3 is short... Not sure what length is good though.

Thanks I really like the black ops android one. For those having issues placing and renaming the files, I recommend Rom Toolbox to install

I'm pretty sure it's something to do with having another file in there that tells the device to play boot sound since there's not one there already.

I downloaded a droid boot animation and it came with a boot sound named poweron.ogg. It plays just fine when i put it in the system/media/audio/ui folder, if that helps anyone.

I just swapped the boot animation, but left the sound file and it still played so I think you can put any .ogg file in there aslong as its named poweron.ogg And the right length/size

2 ways to do it...

1. Go to /system/media
delete bootanimation.zip
place new boot animation there and rename to bootanimation.zip
done

2. Or skip the above and place new boot animation in /data/local
Then rename it to bootanimation.zip
done
This method overrides the one in /system/media without having to delete it.

It sounds like your doing everything right, but are not rooted. You have to be rooted to enable R/W. Then you can use ES File Explorer or Root Explorer to copy/paste the bootanimation.zip.

This is for Root Explorer since it's what I use. Just click on the button at the top in the picture till it reads the same....
