Evening all , i have ended up with my Wildfire s on boot loop :hmmmm2: i followed all the instructions from bootloading, rooting too flashing and all this went great ! not a problem, i then installed the app rom manager and downloaded the gingerbread file from stock on xda xda-developers placed the ROM on my SD card then used rom manager to install the file !!! from here it said installed fine but then just keeps on rebooting !!! should have backed up but i didnt ( idiot) so where do i go from here to get my phone working again. a step by step guide or a link would be great

thanks for reading

Did you do a factory reset before flashing? If not, that's probably the cause of the bootloop (system data that are incompatible between ROMs).

You can reset from recovery. Assuming Wildfire is like my Desire, pull battery to get out of loop, reboot while holding volume down key, then use bootloader menu to get into recovery.

If you didn't do a Ti Backup and want to avoid data loss, you may get away with it if you flash a rooted stock ROM from recovery, ie. one that is compatible with your old one's data. Sometimes that will boot without a factory reset, allowing you to back up your data.

Not being a Wildfire owner I cannot recommend a ROM.

Good luck!

thanks for the reply, yeah i did a factory reset before installing the new gingerbread stock ROM from XDA

Been trying to do a reset from recovery but deleted my ROM when (idiot) i was running the rom manager app !!!

Could i just add a rom zip file to my sd card and use the Clockwork Mod to install the rom ?

And does anyone know or have a link that i can use to download a known working rom for the wildfire s !!!

You can indeed install a ROM that way - in my personal opinion it's the better way to do it (fewer software elements = less to go wrong, and you choose any ROM you like rather than just those RM lists).

Which rom did you flash? Is it m1ndh4x8r mod's rom? Because in that case it's normal that it goes on bootloop. Our phones can't handle it unfortunately. I suggest you flash a different ROM because a lot of people don't seem to be able to make it work properly.

I totally agree with Hadron that the best way to install a ROM is from recovery and not ROM Manager. But that only works for custom ROMs.

You can install a stock HTC ROM by copying ROM.zip to your SD card, but you need to make 100% sure that the ROM is for your phone (especially Marvel vs. MarvelC) and then rename it to PG76IMG.zip. When you boot into HBOOT, the phone will look for it and install it. You won't need to boot into Recovery as bootloader will handle it.

Here's the list of available stock HTC Wildfire S ROMs:

Post back if you run into bumps!

Edit:
One more note. When installing a custom ROM, it's also important to delete dalvik cache which is a step beyond factory reset. It's in CWM Recovery under Advanced. ;)
