Root Boot sound

It must not use a boot sound then I will figure it out and get back to you and yes I will post it tomorrow.

You find out anything about the boot animation sound Shinru?

edit: i tried the bootStrapSound.ogg too it didnt work either just informing you on what i tried,
send a message on here if you discover anything about it, later.

Figured that one out earlier today while toying around actually. its quite simple but unlike any other phone i have ever encountered.

first order of business is to make sure you realize that like changing the boot animation, the boot sound is linked to the carrier
sprint branded ones use bootanimation_sprint.zip and Bootsound_sprint.ogg
mine as a boost mobile phone uses _boost files

so in order to install a custom boot animation as you probably already know but ill go through it anyone for those of you who may not
simply name the zip file "bootanimation_boost.zip" "bootanimation_virgin.zip" or "bootanimation_sprint.zip" depending on which company sold you the phone. and always keep in mind that is all lower case otherwise it wont work
and overwrite the corresponding file in /system/media/

the sound is stored in /system/etc/
same general idea, name an OGG file Bootsound_(your carrier).ogg
keep the case sensitivity in mind, capitalize the B in bootsound and absolutely nothing else
throw it in the etc folder
then restart your phone and be amazed

also, mp3 will not work, it must be converted to ogg vorbis format, im not going through a long drawn out tutorial on how to convert from mp3 to ogg but if in doubt download audacity, open the file, export as ogg vorbis. dont like that method, youre on your own

It didn't work, scratched my head, checked everything.

Tried it again, and then caught on, that when naming this, it somehow ended up with two .ogg.ogg and that doesn't work.

So it looked like this in the system/etc/ folder/Bootsound_boost.ogg.ogg

When I lost the second.ogg, and rebooted, worked great.

You did it again Junkie.

Thanks.

thats a common mistake, mainly the fault of the windows operating system. it has an option that is turned on by default called, "hide extensions for known file types" which basically means dont show the .whatever if theres a program installed that uses that kind of file. i leads to alot of issues like this, even to the point of causing people not to be able to install cwm just because they renamed the file recovery.img.img and they keep typing recovery.img in the command prompt, they could never figure it out and that could be there only problem

same here, that and hiding stuff. windows is always trying to hide shit and make it not writable, if i wanna modify critical system files imma modify critical system files you cant tell me what to do windows :P

Hey Junkie on another post you mentioned that you have the sonic boot? anyway you can share that wealth I love sonic! that would be really awesome .. also do you know where I can get any other boot animations? I know there was one where andrew karate swords the apple logo or the one where he pees on it. lol Thanks!

not sure where you can get other android boot animations, but a quick google search should turn up plenty, which can then all be adjusted, all boot animations are a standard format, the only real work in converting is opening the zip file up and adjusting the frame size so it doesnt have black bars around it and what not or over scale. as far as sharing the sonic boot i will share it as well as my boot sound but A i cant promise the boot sound will sync up in a non stock based rom and i am not even sure it will run in one as is, their file structure may be different when using cm10 or aokp. so if someone wants to test that theory, and it may even just need to be renamed to remove the "boost" part of the file name for those i dont know.
also, i will make note that I DID NOT CREATE THIS. i adjusted it accordingly but it is not my work, sadly i aquired it years ago so i dont recall who the original author was but wherever they are i thank them
give me a few to put it in an installable package and upload it
