Root Boot Splashscreen

Is there any way to use custom splashscreens on boots? I'm looking to chage the Cricket screen to a Sprint/NEXTEL logo and replace the blue Android type face with a more iconic logo. IF anything, I wouldn't mind also being able to replace other visual Cricket logos to NEXTEL.

It can be done but you must be rooted to do it. If you root, you can use the Root Tools app to change your boot screen and more!

It looks like in Root Tools, I can add an animation that cane with it, and that's it.
There are other methods of installing a custom boot screen but they are not as simple as using Root Tools. You will also probably need some type of experience to get it done. You can just google how to install it yourself because I have never done that.

One you have to be rooted and you'll need a root file explorer. then you'll need a custom bootanimation.zip. Then you put the bootanimation.zip in /system/media. Then reboot to see your new boot animation.

I've got the screen I want to replace and know where to put it. I want to replace power_off.png in /system/media/hw_image/poweroff, but, everytime I go to paste the replacement into /poweroff, I get a warning saying I can not paste here because the file system in read-only, with only the option to press "OK". Where do I go from here?

EDIT: Nevermind, I got after Mounting
