Root Bootlader/Recovery

Why am I having trouble getting my friend's phone into recovery? He wants to explore the root but, I can't get his phone into the bootloader screen to find his H-boot, etc... Any ideas?

Is fastboot turned on? got phone making a nand now, not sure where it is in settings.

can just pull the battery for a minute, re install, vol down and power. that'll get you in too.

Did you turn fastboot off in the phone's menu? menu>settings>applications >development > uncheck fastboot
