Anyone else having problems with boot manager? I can install roms to slots get them to succesfully boot into the rom but once im on an sd card rom bootmanager force closes whenever i try to open it to say switch to another or go to the phone rom so i end up having to do a nand restore. Just curious if anyone else has had this problem. Ok well just had to restore a my backup and once restored i get a pop up that says sd card damaged(brand new class 10). I just bought the card when i found out about bootmanager. Im using amon-ra just formatted the card and rebooted again and still says damaged. Im gonna send the dev an email now to see what they say. Anyone that may have any input or solutions please let me know. tia

I've found that boot manager can be very frustrating. I used it just for the SBC charging on an AOSP ROM overnight and that seemed to work well. I didn't have any forceclose issues with it.

What brand of card do you have?
What size is it?

Did you buy this card from eBay? Some people are saying that their SD cards are defective from eBay purchases and many are assuming that this is happening because people are selling fraudulent SD cards online. The Evo and other Android devices are also notorious for randomly requiring the user to reformat their SD card every now and then. Mine has done it once while my friend's Epic 4G did it numerous times.

Try formatting the card on your computer to one format like FAT32 or another format and then to another format then put it into your phone and format it from your phone.

I've never used BootManager so I couldn't tell you about this problem. Sorry.

I've had the issue with Bootmanager before. It is a gapps issue i do believe. I didn't have the issue if i used an AOSP ROM and Had gapps installed with it. However if I was lucky enough to get a Sense ROM to install with it then I would get this issue.

Best way to find out if SD is damaged is to place it in a card Reader and plug it into computer. Click exit when the dialog box pops up asking you what you want to do? Click the Menu Button and select Run type cmd in the Dos Box type:
chkdsk x: /f /r
Replace x with actual drive letter of SD
Windows will check the disk fix any file system issues and check for bad spots if it reports bad spots you will want to contact who ever you bought it from and ask for a refund.

Patriot signature 16gb. I was able to format the card after wiping in recovery then rebooting and formatting again when the phone asked to. The card seems fine now gonna wait to see what the app developer says. I noticed something about Droid x 2 with the bootmanger app on my SD. I'm still kind of a noob to the evo. And I'm flashed to metro so I wanted to use bootmanager to experiment with other roms to be able to use newer versions than the metro roms out here.

The only time I've had a force close issue, which I think said, "oops not able to verify Boot Manager", or something along those lines I didn't have a Data connection.

We had lost power last week for 5 days and during that time I couldn't get a connection of any sort on any of my SD card roms. I ended up going into recovery> Select unzip> boot manager> phone rom> and then reboot. That will take you back to your Phone rom. From there I had to update profile and PRL and then my SD card roms would work again.

The issue started for me after my Phone rom which is Sense 3.0 based updated itself overnight. I had it set to not check for updates but it did anyway.

Once my PRL and Profile were updated everything was fine again.

Hope that helps,

Naters

That actually might of been the problem then since the rom I booted to wasn't metro ready and I didn't flash the aosp web script for metro yet. I always let them boot once then flash it. I guess if I use bootmanager ill have to flash it all at once.

Sounds right
The first thing bootmanager does is check to verify that is not a pirated copy, so you need to have a data connection.

I ended up flashing the latest cm7 this morning and got web mms everything working. So I'm gonna use this as the phone rom and give it another shot. With the metro ready roms and see how it goes. Have you tried the nandroid dumps? I'm thinking I can get the roms in working order for metro and fill the slots with my backups of them. You have any idea what would of cause that SD card error I got throughout that process? That's really the only thing that worries me since I just bought the card. I don't wanna do something to it that's gonna cause me to have to keep formatting.

The Nandroid dumps work very well. I used that to get a few of my slots filled out.

I haven't as of yet had any issues with my SD card so I can't help you with that.

Ok cool. Do you use clockwork or RA. For your phone recovery?

I wouldn't worry about the sd card unless you start noticing some serious errors that could be a sign. However if you run the command I gave earlier it will tell you if there is anything wrong with card ( like for line at finish of chkdsk that says bad spots if more than 0 disk is bad

Ok cool. Ill probably run the command in a little bit. Thanks . On phone now otherwise would hit thank button.

Just to cover something that was FULLY explained in a PREVIOUS THREAD, labeled, BOOTMANAGER.
If you have ANY issues with anything Boot manager related, simply reboot into recovery. Select flash zip from SD card, then highlight the bootmanager directory, then inside it, highlight phonerom directory, then highlight update.zip and run it, return to main menu, and reboot, and hocus pocus you are back into your original phone rom with nothing touched or messed up.

THERE IS NO NEED TO FORMAT SD CARDS AT ANY TIME!!! THIS PROGRAM ALTERS NOTHING ON YOUR SD CARD EXCEPT FOR THE BOOTMANGER DIRECTORY. GET IT???

You must not have read the OP. Once I rebooted a pop up came on the phone that said SD card unreadable will check for errors. Then the next pop up said you must format SD card. That's the only reason there has been any talk about formatting. But thanks.
