Root Bricked Evo 4G

Oryian

Lurker
Well i may have really screwed up this time.

I've been rooted for a few days now and things have been great. I don't want to bore everyone with details leading up to why i needed to reset the phone but i simply went into hboot and did a clean wipe and rebooted the phone.

Upon reboot the phone went into the htc setup wizard and i was able to setup my google account which was then followed by a force close. Ugh...

After multiple reboots the setup wizard is force closing at exactly the same spot which happens to be right after the google account setup.

The problem is this. I can't get past the setup wizard to turn off fast boot therefore i can't seem to get back into hboot to fix this mess. Is there any way to get back into hboot even if it's through a terminal via my pc?

Thanks much!

I'm good to go again. I found the original rom that came with the phone and installed it through my computer. Thank goodness it used a windows installer.

It required some updating being that it was an early release but that's better than the paperweight that it was :)

welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i moved you to the rooting section. you will get more hits and responses here. and i'm glad that you were able to figure it out. but you could have also pulled the battery out then press and hold power+vol down and select recovery in hboot. in recovery try and wipe dalvik cache and cache.
