Help Bricked Phone - Download is in progress.

Jayplac

Newbie
I woke up this morning and my phone wasn't acting right. None of my apps would work and kept force closing. After rebooting, my screen is pera stuck on "Download is in progress. Do not disconnect cable."

I've been going through the forum for the past 30 minutes and can see where people have attempted various things like booting in recovery mode, but they never say how they booted into recovery mode.

My phone is rooted and the only thing I've tried which I've read is to hold the volume buttons down and power up. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hold the power button and volume buttons too. Let go of the power button till you see the LG Logo but don't let go of the Volume Buttons. Keep on holding them until a black screen appears asking if you would like to do a factory reset. Press the power button 3 times and you'll be in recovery. Hopefully. Tell me if you are able to get into recovery.

Thanks for the speedy response. No luck though. Just like you said, I held all three buttons and when the logo came up, I released the power button and it took me straight to the "Download is in progress screen."

O.k., Thanks all for your help thus far. I've gone through the word document created by Bubble2 all the way to the point where I select the path for the PB file. I started typing MS910 and nothing happened.

So... I tried to help it along by placing the MS910ZVB_01.SB_01.P3018.R1003 - Copy.zip file into the LGNPST file under LG Electronics. Presto. Now it comes up when I start typing MS910.

However... I'm getting an error message which reads "The file is not proper type"

50 points to the person with the right answer!

Did you extract the zip?

When the select box is open put *.* in the search to allow all files to be selected. Then select the 910 file.

50 Points goes to Fuzzy.

The tutorial shows the .zip extension, but after opening the file and using the .tot, it works and I no longer have the lock up.

However.......

My phone feature is not working... Do I need to recall MetoPCS?

Most likely. Its fast though.
Dial *228

There is no connection whatsoever.

What I'm wondering is: Did using the VS 910 dll skew the phone into thinking it's a verizon phone (not likely I think) OR did something go wrong in the restoration process (in which case do I need to repeat the process?)

Use this guiide ->http://androidforums.com/showthread.php?t=426653

Flash the prl on your esteem, than dial *228 and have them program your phone.
it should work after that.

No, that DLL has been used a hundred times over. Sounds like its a PRL issue.

What does it say for your PRL in settings/about phone?

Ok, everyone, Thanks for hanging in there with me.

I ran the tutorial and wrote the new code to the phone using qpst. Now I can call but I get error messages. I can also call Metro PCS and I did speak with an agent. He wanted me to press ##642 into the dial pad (I think it was ##642) but it didn't matter, because as soon as I pressed the first # I was taken to a new screen title "LG Hidden Menu." The tech became confused at this point and advised me to take the phone in for repair...

Anyone have an answer for this?
