Help Bricked phone, please help!

So after replacing the screen on my Desire, the phone worked well for a couple of weeks and suddenly the phone is stuck on the bootloader with the infamous 4 !'s in the corners (triangles).

I've tried using the RUU from HTC's website, but I get the "error 131 customer id" error. After a bit of googling, it looks like I need a goldcard, but to create a goldcard, I need the phone in a working condition to create it (I'm not sure what it's called, but I'm guessing some special serial number in the phone?).

Is there any way I can create a goldcard without the need of the phone, or is there an alternative method to getting my phone working again?

Thanks.

Is your phone branded? Which RUU are you using?

You can use a card reader. Use the step by step in the rooting faq in my Signature

I looked at your tutorial, but the phone is stuck in that one screen with the 4 !'s, I can't boot into any other mode.

The Desire is locked and was sold by Telstra (Australian telco), the boot splash also has the Telstra image (this is what you mean by branded?).

I RUU I use is:
_HTC Desire_RUU_Bravo_Froyo_Telstra_WWE_2.26.841.2_Radio_32.48.00.32U_5.11.05.14_release_150162_signed

When I run it, it picks up the phone, says that both the phone and the downloaded RUU are the same version, and then gives a 131 error.

I tried:
RUU_Bravo_Froyo_Telstra_WWE_2.26.841.2_Radio_32.48.00.32U_5.11.05.14_release_150162_signed

Which managed to make further progress, but hangs forever at "Updating HBOOT".
