Bricked samsung galaxy prevail
So i have a samsung prevail, rooted for 4 months. Cpu tuner, Rom manager, Rom toolbox and so forth. I went in Rom manager, did a flash cyogenmod recovery with the dell that was suggested for me. Everything was good, until i went and hit backup current rom, i hit that and bam, phone died completely. Wont charge, wont connect, wont turn on, wont system reboot, usb not recognized. Did 3 button reboot, and unfortuneately, i think its bricked and done. Please help if you can. I know now, ROM managaer is not compatible with samsung galaxy prevail. Little late now. HELP!!!!!
 
Ok .If it is under warranty just go and say that it doesnt start . ROM manager clockwork flash basically bricks the arm boot .
Nothing can be done unless you own a Jtag and Samsung Prevail supports Jtag .Even 301K USB Jig/resistor method WONT work.
Jtag needs to be soldered to the board so it bricks all kinds of warranties.
You need to take it your care centre or whatever .You should get it back in three days or so .
Dont worry ,the care guys cant find out that you have voided the technical warranty by rooting, since a failed KIES update and a ROM manager brick have the same symptoms .
 
HAHAHAHA that is ****ing awesome, im pretty sure i met the only person in the world who has worse handwriting than me ;)
 
I also had a bricked Prevail. I don't live anywhere near a Samsung repair center, and didn't want to mail it in and wait to get it back. Mobiletechvideos.com offers a jtag service for $30. I got my phone back in less than a week just like it was before I used ROM manager. Just an option.

I wonder if they used the PIN out I provided here

I also noticed they sell a JIG, I tried jigging my Prevail and it did not work for me, I wonder if theirs works

Well I spent a lot of time tracing all those connections for the jtag pins.


Nice to see some one is using the info.
 
I had a problem with my phone (random rebooting) and sent it back to Samsung. They provided a UPS label to send it to them and mailed it back to me. Turn around time was about 7 days.
 
okay can someone help me out on a situation.. so basicly my phone is rooted and i installed some zip folders (kouma kernel 2.4) and (clockwork) after i did the kouma and rebooted my phone it came on and got stuck on the kouma kernel screen. i can still get to my download screen by pushing volume up + power + camera side button. okay my question. is there a way to unroot my phone and put in back the stock os?????? if you can provide links that would be highly appreciated.
(SAMSUNG PREVAIL 2.3.5 GINGERBREAD)

Also koumakernel does not support the stock ROM. You can just flash a custom ROM (ctmod/halfassrom/any ct based ROM) and your phone will be fine again
 
does anyone know if its possible to get download mode after rom manager brick? i did this to my girlfriends samsung precedent but from what i understand the prevail and precedent are the same fone if i can get to download mode i can handel it from there but i cant seem to get it to dl mode do i need to jtag it or what please help

i tried to make the one with the 300k resistor but that diddnt work but i assume from u tellin me that that i have to use hardware it wont do it normaly do u kno if the j tag thing will work

i honestly don't know, someone else might have the answer to that.
 
hroark13 has a topic called Odin (Return phone to Stock/Factory) updated 02/23 new FA19 image that i was lookin at all i need is to get to download mode i know the rest but i am new to the droid system i was an ios master but now lookin at a driod to tether wifi can u help me run thru how to do that do i need it usb connected batt in out or at least point me in the right direction

i believe rom manager screws up the recovery partition..i believe you will waste your time trying to fix this..might be worth it to send to samsung or replace
 
also let me add that rom manager is an awesome app if your phone is supported..i emailed koush a while back..about support for several phones but i think you would have to send him each phone
 
Send it back to samsung. i bricked mine the same way back in shabby days...tried the 301 jig and nothing. They dont care if it's rooted. they prob do a dump and learn from it! lol

i have a hard bricked prevail i called samsung and its still covered under warranty they say that they will fix it(i told em i dropped it lol)i fugged it up with rom mamager.Will those mofos know i had it rooted and all that good $h!t??Or just spend the 40$ and send it to mobiletech and have him JTAG that $h!t??
 
No. They will not know. Send it back and they'll send it to you. Total turn around time about 10 days or so. They pay shipping to and from too!
 
Kouma showed me link to $40 repair for from manager brick supposedly only way to fix this kind brick

Check for thread called no more bricks (I think)

I bricked my prevail a few months ago, called samsung, they sent me shipping label by e-mail and I got it back in 8 days, didn't cost me a dime. Bricked it with rom manager same way the first poster did. My advise from now on, read, read, read, before you do anything.
