Root Brightness setting reverting/acting stupid

Whatup all ! It's been a looooooong while since i've needed to figure anything out with my phone... but what can i say, it's just that great.

This is so weird i was sure it'd been brought up here before, but after searching i didn't find anythign. :( So here goes - i've used widgetsoid on my home screen forever to toggle my screen brightness at 20/50/100. Used it daily, with no issues. Occasionally i'd hop into Quick Settings & do it there - no rhyme or reason, and no issues whatsoever.

For the last month or so, I'll hit the toggle on widgetsoid and the popup will display the next-higher brightness setting, but as soon as it disappears the brightness reverts to what it was (it's defaulting to 25% at boot). Moving the slider in quick settings adjusts the brightness in-app, upon exiting the brightness reverts.

Using the system display settings is kinda reverse - using it's own seek bar *does* successfully adjust brightness, however, upon returning to the system-brightness-screen, it is *always* at 25%, regardless of any actions i take (even if the actual brightness is 100%, 0%, etc.).

I've since uninstalled widgetsoid & quick settings, the only two apps of the sort i use (or have ever used, in fact), as well as moving all apps to the phone, rebooting, etc. The system settings behave no differently. The issue is only getting more frequent and persistent. I used to be able to reboot & it'd be solved. This is turning into a major ARGH.

i'm still on backside/cm7.2... also i'm pretty boring with my app-usage - i haven't added/removed much at all for quite a while (ElectroDroid a couple months ago...) and certainly not anything that should mess with the screen like this. And if this has indeed been dealt with elsewhere on the forum... my derp. :o

If your using BACKside just go into CyanogenMod setting/Interface/status bar tweaks. Allow the status bar to be used as a brightness slider. Way better then a toggle.

kinda more of an opinion thing... i have my status bar hidden + when i un-hide it in launcherpro settings - maybe i'm fidgety but going that route has me accidentally scrolling my homescreen + not having good/precise control over brightness - there's lag when using it. What's hard about tap for 100%, tap for 20% ? A tap vs a swipe... "way better" ? i feel like i'm missing something.

I don't swipe. I just touch, and briefly hold a spot on the status bar.

If you like the status bar hidden, then the status bar brightness control might not be the best option.

This is an issue common with all CM7 ROMs since our OV don't have the Auto-Brightness capability. Solution can be found at:
