Help Broken Screen

-Mike-

Android Enthusiast
I broke my screen again last night by stepping on my phone. It still works, just has a crack through the screen, top-to-bottom.

Here's my dilema....... This will be my 4th Evo replacement claimed on insurance, and my most recent claim was 3 months ago. Will they at some point deny me a replacement phone?

I have tossed around the idea of upgrading to the Evo LTE but I havent really heard much feedback. I also will want to root the new phone as well but I want to make sure these other ROMs are stable and problem-free.

I could always use the broken Evo to replace my spare phone/mobile wifi also known as my rooted Samsung Moment, lol. This phone has been VERY reliable and saves me $60 a month :). Then I could probably make a claim for the broken Evo on this particular account/phone number and it would be the first time.

Thoughts...... Opinions........ Ideas........???????

Thanks in advance!

well i have an evo lte and it is pretty damn good. if you wait to long you might get one that is not rootable. yes you can still root it by unlocking the bootloader, but you will not have s-off. also the unlocked bootloader really makes flashing roms and kernels more of a pain to do. it is still possible but there are extra steps you need to do.

if you are curious come by the Evo 4G LTE - All Things Root - Android Forums forums.

and i'm not sure on your insurance, but as long as you are paying for it, you should be ok with getting it replaced. of course you have to pay the deductible ($100).

and if you are brave enough you can use this guide to take your phone apart and replace the screen:http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-tips-tricks/147383-htc-evo-4g-take-apart-repair-guide.html

I read the guide and it seems relatively easy to replace the screen. I found some on amazon.com for $6-10. Are these Ok?? I still have a full display but, there is a crack in the external glass that I can see and feel. Is this the only piece I need? I really like how my Evo's running at the moment and would hate to have to start all over again with a new phone.

not sure on the one's on amazon, but repair universe is legit and they do sell parts for the evo still. and i have never taken my evo apart so i have no idea what you need. but i know the guide i linked is pretty good. up to you my friend.
