Brought my phone into the pool

I think I'll be fine... I didn't have the stock battery in and the water indicators look okay. It's going to sit in a pile of rice for over a week. Please explain to me what the other moisture damage tests are...
In store, you would probably be fine, but there are usually internal moisture detectors that are inaccessible unless dissembled (typically near the headphone jack and other places).

I'm not sure why everyone is mentioning rice when you can use SILICA GEL PACKS that are much more effective.

Take out battery, take hair dryer on LOW and from a good distance (maybe 2 feet) and hold it at the back of the phone for a good 10 minutes. Repeat a few times. Then:

Get a small, vacuum sealable container, dump the phone in (back cover off, battery out, both left out of the container) with the silica gel packs (maybe 20-30 of them) and leave for 3-4 days in the sun.

I've done this before with Gameboys, RAZR phones and music players. A bit more elaborate than basmatic rice, but definitely more effective.

Key:

Don't EVER try to turn on a device immediately after it's been submerged; chances are high that you will short a circuit. Immediately take out battery (don't even press the power button) and do the hair dryer trick.

The reason people recommend rice is because most of us don't have 20-30 silica gel packs sitting in a drawer waiting for an act of stupidity. Nor can you buy 20-30 silica gel packs at any grocery store in the country.

On the other hand, rice is cheap, often on-hand, and if not on-hand, it's widely available, and it works equally well. The gel packs absorb more water for their weight, but really it doesn't matter as long as you have some patience. Anything that will absorb water out of the air will work. Heck, if you had enough croutons, they'd probably work. And then when you're done, you could have a salad.

It never ceases to amaze me, though, the people who automatically think, "my electronic device got wet. Now I've got a great idea: I'm going to turn it on and see if it still works! Putting electricity through wet circuits is a great idea!"

Best of luck with your phone. Most solid state electronics will still work if your response to a dunking is IMMEDIATELY removing the battery and drying the whole thing out.

Ovens at very low temperature with the cracked door open will work as well, and it'll go a lot faster than the rice, but it's also a lot more precise and you run a far greater risk of damaging your phone.

I brought my incredible into the pool today in my swimsuit :( It wont turn on... no insurance. What options do I have?

None really except buy a new one for retail. You could try taking it apart and letting it dry out in the sun for a few days re assemble and see what happens you never know.

I still have this idea that when I send my old one back they aren't going to charge me if it's not visible moisture damage. I have put a few phones in the microwave that were water damaged just for fun and then I have brought them into verizon within 30 days and gotten them replaced.

I know it sounds crazy but I would immediately put the phone in a ziplock bag full of rice. Completely submerge the phone in the rice, with the battery out and the battery cover off the phone. I read some posts about doing this and people had positive reviews and said it worked.
My aunt dropped her iphone in the bath tub and I told her to do it and the next morning it was working again without 1 issue. You would be surprised and it never hurts to try, especially at this point. Good luck.

I did this with my friend's mytouch. works perfect now.

The incredible seems pretty water tight from what I've seen. My friend foolishly dropped his in soda. Took it out immediately and dried it out. Works fine. The inside of the phone or the Verizon case weren't even wet.

get square trade, and u can replace the phone after 30 days. they ddnt check my phone, u just cant submit a claim for the first 30 days is all.

also, (THIS IS EXPERIMENTAL: DO AT YOUR OWN RISK: DONT BLAME ME FOR EXPLOSIONS OR CANCER OR ANYTHING) some people have had success microwaving the phone for very short durations evaporating just the water. by very small, i mean less than 5 seconds, and then try again after a while..

I swapped over water stickers from my friends incredible using a tweezers hah. All is well now. When my brand new one comes I ship the old one back and story is kapeesh.

...then made a regular warranty claim...
Regular? I think a regular claim doesn't involve fraud.

I can't believe how readily so many people are to suggest fraud!

Really pleased that the cost of my future handsets and insurance etc. will be increased due to you getting something you had no right to, cheers.

i killed mine with water last week... couldnt believe it. had a dumb phone for 3 yrs and never damaged it. i feel for ya man. luckily i got insurance and since the phone is so new i got sent a brand new one not a refurb... always get insurance. and for those how think this phone can withstand water... mine was in my pocket and i got hit with a water ballon...

I would personally run rubbing alcohol through it to clear off any deposits potentially left behind by the water. Definitely don't attempt to turn it on until you're sure it's dry. If you are savvy enough I'm sure you can find a tear down on some site so you can separate the pieces. Don't know how easy that would be with this phone though.

Also, and I want to make it clear I'm not recommending you do this. It is for informational purposes only.
I've heard people have had luck using bleach on the water damage sticker. It apparently can take some time for it to completely bleach everything and get rid of the red, but it reportedly works.

I still have a few tiny tiny bubbles of moisture underneath the screen. Is there any way to get them out? Will they just evaporate over time?

not when she looks like this lol...its worth the price...

D00d! That ain't cool! Take that post down and quit being a dick!

Agreed, kinda weird and rude to go through someones Photobucket, and then post pictures of his wife on a forum, without his permission. I'm impressed he didn't kick off at you.

More like it's absurd a guy would keep pics of his wife unprotected on the Internet like that. Clearly he doesn't care where they end up.

As for OP. Congrats on committing fraud...

i dont see why you find it absurd, perhaps you wouldnt do what i do but surely you dont expect everyone in the world to think and feel exactly the same as you... do you???

i am proud of all my things in my life, my motorcycles, my snakes, and my girl...the pics i have up on line i have used in many occasions for various reason both for myself and for my wife and her line of work...i am used to ppl making comments or even using the pics for their personal use, and it doesnt bother me. i am sorry if it offends you or anyone else.
