Root Browser Is Super Slow After Rooting & ROM MikG 3.11

Hi all, so I finally took the plunge yesterday and rooted my Evo and installed a custom ROM (MikG 3.11). I am not new to modding my phones...been doing so since my Treo days.
Everything went well I got no errors whatsoever and overall pleased with being able to get rid of the bloatware (which was my reason for rooting in the first place). The issue, however, is that my phone has become super slow! Internet browser was super fast on my Evo but now even my Blackberry's browser is faster. At first i thought it was the browser MikG's ROM came with (Maxthon) but I tried the regular phone's browser and it's the same thing.
It isn't limited to just browsing...many of my apps such as G+, Facebook, etc are also very slow.
I don't know what to do...has anyone else experienced this with MikG? Should I change ROMs? Thus far MikG 3.11 has proven to be a very nice ROM but truthfully if my browsing sucks I'd have to reconsider...

Did you do a full wipe before flashing the ROM? By a full wipe I mean manually wiping everything in recovery except for the SD card.

Wiping dalvik cache & cache in recovery and rebooting can also sometimes help solve little annoyances like these.

I would also consider updating your PRL and profile in that order.

Thank you for your quick response (I wonder why I am not being notified!)
I did do the wipes...twice in fact because the first time I put the ROM files unzipped and then realized I shouldn't have unzip so I turned on the phone, added the zip file to the card, then proceeded to recovery and did the wipe steps again.
"5.select wipe from the main menu and wipe dalvik cache, cache, and data"
You're saying I should wipe these again? (with current ROM?)
I might have to wipe my phone clean again as I added my secondary gmail account first and now i can't log in to Talk with my current gmail account.
I tried finding solutions for that little dilemma and the only recommendation is wiping and starting over. Mind you I spent hours customizing my phone after rooting and flashing so I am not looking forward to wiping!

Yeah, he was referring to a clean wipe and reinstall. You're going to need to do that to get the primary gmail account on it anyway.

As far as the internets speed, try the pro and profile updates that Rx suggested above. Should help. :)

Clean wipe and reinstall what...the ROM??? (or you mean do the phone set up thingy again (email association etc?)

About the wipe, I downloaded Titanium backup, if I do a backup and then restore after I set up my phone again (enter proper email this time), and i do a restore with Titanium backup, will it change the default email back to what it was (prior to wiping)?

Ok...off to finding out how to do that :p :D

I don't see system in your wipe mention. Was this overlooked or did you not wipe the system partition? As far as customizing yeah I hear ya that is always a drag. Unfortunately it's a necessary evil some time. Keep us posted

Hi Argedion, I followed instruction in this guide: "[Revised] Rooting Gingerbread 2.3.5 Dummies Guide" to the T...so if there was a system wipe requirement in there, then I did it.

Edit:
You know, I realize that there was one step I did not do which is this one:
7.find the superwipe file and select it.(optional)

I didn't do it because it said optional plus inside of the WikG zip I remember seeing it plus I remember some mention of not needing to wipe in WikG site.

There is a conflicting problem with the Adfree app that comes with that ROM. You have to open it and Boot Normally, then, either Revert, which will give you ads, or change the IP settings.

You know, I did wonder if this may have been the cause of it.
I'll try this tonight and see if it works.
Thanks!

Thanks! What custom IP setting should I change to? Any IP address or does it need to be a specific one? Not sure what is happening there exactly.

Good question. I thought of going into the app's site and checking to see if any comments/suggestion was made on this issue....(provided it's a known issue)

If you don't mind having ads, just hit the Revert button. If ads bother you, like they do me... I've tried custom ip "BTC IP" which I think is universal, then hit Download & Install Hosts.
It worked!!!! Thank you!!

XDA is a great source If you don't mind fitting through all the crappy attitudes. Arguing and overall whining
