hroark13 YOU ROCK!

I have tried most of the mods here and within them downloaded supposed HID drivers for my BK-101 (BK-101001BL) Bluetooth keyboard, and not one of them EVER worked.

I finally break down and install CM7B5 on my Galaxy Prevail and as soon as I enabled BT and paired the keyboard I had instant gratification...

Thank you!

Where do I send the money? How much is reasonable for the Beta?

I have never had to pay for a phone OS not included in the price of the phone, so I am unsure what is appropriate....

Simultaneous WiFi and BT is troublesome, but worth the fight.
Almost every item times out, but works if I select WAIT instead of force close, and sometimes things seem to work just fine.

I have not installed the mapfix part yet, but maybe that will help?

The whole point of this thread however is to see if CM7 is the only Mod that has built in, or even supports HID BT keyboards....

What other Mods support BT Keyboards for our Galaxy Prevails?

Is it just my BK-101 that is problematic? (It would pair but never connect in other Mods, even with 3rd party drivers including BlueInput)

My only addition so far is the Firefox Nightlies for armv6, and now I will never allow auto updating for it because of a glitch that broke the last two versions for me. After finding the #QA IRC channel for Mozilla I was directed to an html link containing each day's builds (some days as few as 5 builds, others a dozen or more) all indexed by date, time, and version...

I mentioned most items, most of the time, requiring me to select WAIT instead of Force Close... is that because my SD card has:

Partition 1 - FAT32
Partition 2 - EXT4
Partition 3 - Linux Swap

I think I read somewhere not to have EXT or SWAP on the SD card????

Well, since the phone itself is usable and pretty quick, and since BT works mostly, I am still most happy with CM7B5 over all of the other good Mods available. (Bluetooth HID is a huge deal to me with a 3.5" screen and fingers just right for a 12" laptop sized BT keyboard... I am not a teenager anymore)

Anyone else with a Bluetooth keyboard have luck with the other Mods?

Any model... not just like the BK-101 I have...

I want to know if it's the Mods or my particular keyboard...

If it matters, I am on baseband FE16 (S:M820.07 x.FE16)

I read near the end of the Unofficial Beta 5 thread that it worked with said baseband.

Thanks to hroark13 and all of the previous Beta Testers who helped advance CM7 this far for the Prevail phones....

Thanks to androidforums.com owners, operators, and moderators.

Thanks to Samsung for making a nice phone.

Let's see how many replies we get for working bluetooth keyboards....

I LOVE using arrow keys and TAB, and not having to shift the keyboard to type numbers...

BTW: Anyone interested in a well made, but inexpensive BT Keyboard that works with CM7..... Fry's Electronics sells the BK-101 for ~$32 quite often...

It is exactly the same size as a 15.6" laptop keyboard, and Mac weenies will like the "command" keys which should map to apple's special keys.

I understand the keyboard is available in white (with a slightly different part #) if that's what you like.

My model, Light Black is BK-101001BL, and also available are
BK-101001SW (Silver and White )

BK-101001BB (DARK BLACK)

I don't see a difference in pictures of Light and Dark Black, but maybe you would in person.

Oh, the brand is RockSoul, it's 10mm thin, and uses bluetooth 3.0.... and those with ipods and ipads... it works great with them, supporting extra key commands....

Why do I like it? (since this is not a spamvert) because it's the closest portable keyboard to being full sized for those with large adult sized fingers.

Instead of 25WPM on the touchscreen I get 70-80WPM with such a real keyboard and lag is imperceptible...

1 complaint: To enter 2 consecutive Capital letters one has to let up on the shift key between letters or the second one will be lower case. It's a small issue one can learn to live with.

Thanks for tolerating my praise/review/hints for getting a working bluetooth keyboard on our Prevail phones!!!

I hope those of you who have full sized hands, or hams, walk away from this post with a new ability to type at decent speeds without having to constantly correct typos, once you get yourself a known working model of BT Keyboards.

For the record, I almost got a small phone sized BT Keyboard with a li-po battery that charged via a USB connector, with it's only advantage being tactile keys an providing an unobstructed view of the screen... not much advantage without larger keys for some of us though... same price range as what I settled on back in November.

The sad thing: I already know I will soon be switching to a Galaxy S2 and handing my Prevail down to my daughter... yes, I will keep my keyboard, she's almost 10 and has fingers able to manage the on screen input easily.

If you made it this far down you must have been bored... Thank you for reading the entirety however... sometimes I have difficulty with focus and arrange my posts with relevant data spread around top to bottom... ;)

I will do that.

I was thinking I had read my class 6 might not be fast enough to fully enjoy CM7b5.

lucky I have time to do that tonight after work.

Thanks for the suggestion RTLflat

A lot: as in cost? or the length of post? :-)

Given most of WalMart's bluetooth keyboards are $50-90 I think ~$30ish is actually quite cheap.

[edit]

Yesterday I switched my CM7 b5 to the no-ext version of the mapfix kernel and also loaded the Theme Switcher package.

I also got an updated ToS from Boost telling me that for continued service I would have to give up all rights to hardware I own outright... No Root allowed, no tethering on devices not registered for tethering services on their plan and software, no mods, and no ability to be a part of a class suit.

I will continue to run CM7 r5 until they write me a warning or actually shut me off, at which point there WILL be a lawsuit filed.

I don't disrupt their services with Root or Mods allowed by that root access... I will be damned if I will be called a criminal for personalizing my phone to make it more user friendly, or for restoring services they have intentionally blocked without just cause.

I will be writing a carefully worded letter to the FTC as well, similar to what forced Verizon to not block tethering apps from the marketplace.

I doubt it matters that they are a prepaid instead of post paid carrier.

This actually deserves a new thread, being it will affect all of us in short order...

What will we all do if Root = no service with Boost?
