Root Bugless Beast Rom Version 1.0 is Out!

BB 1.0 and the 1.0ghz approved kernel absolutely rips on my phone, thanks to everyone in this forum :D

It also dominates with Helix Launcher Version 1

Now i need a solid boot animation

Well now I'm intermittently not getting the LED notification from emails  Flashing back to CM here in a bit, I don't see anything special from 1.0 anymore.

I've been running Pete's BB ROMs for months now. In v1 I found one bug. When playing music (streaming Pandora, etc) notification sounds do not work. The music will stop as it always has for a second or so but no sound plays for text message, gmail, email, etc.

Anyone else have this issue? Something in my settings I screwed up?

Have you tried setting "home app in memory" in Spare Parts? I find that helps. I also run a cache cleaner every few days (CacheMate) which also (at least for me) helps with lagging. Make sure you do not have any widgets loaded in unused home launchers (I use Home Switcher to go into other home launchers to clean them out).

I have two versions of spare parts on my phone and neither one of them have that as an option. Where can I find that .apk?

I love BB and want to make switch, but one thing keeps me on Cyanogen: Battery status in the battery bar.

Is there a simple MM to put that there? I don't want anything continuously running as a task though.

I know it's stupid, but I love it so.

Do you mean just a battery icon that shows the percentage remaining?

I wanted the same thing with BB V1 so I could get rid of the battery status widget also. I'm not sure if I did it the correct way, but what I did worked and my phone has been great since and I did it without using MM.

I followed this thread Custom framework-res.apk for BB with Battery % - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum

And used this green round battery icon to replace the stock from this thread: Round Battery icon for BB1.0 Smoked Glass? - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum

I used root explorer to copy my current framework.res.apk to my SD card. Then using Winrar navigate to the res\drawable-hdpi folder and replace the 'stat_sys_battery_****.png' images with the ones from the greenroundbattery.zip and save the framework.res.apk.

Boot in recovery, mount system and sd card, and copy the framework.res from the sd card back to the system. Reboot system, crossed my fingers and it worked.

I'm not sure if that helps at all.

Hey guys - I posted my own thread but with no response. I rooted my Droid and installed Jrummy remix based off cyanogen rom as my first rom. Well, I love the way it looks. I love showing someone my Droid and have them do a double take.

problem is, is people are saying these Roms and SETCPU kernels are making their phones faster and smoother ... but I am not seeing a difference.

Also my battery life is horrible. I am VERY interested in trying new roms, and at first I was worried about installing my apps - But well, I've already done it once, and atleast now I have some sort of knowledge on Titanium Backup to get my stuff back. My concern is I am not sure about how to go about the proper way of switching to try this one.

I created a nandroid backup a week ago...but where is it? Is it in a folder on my SD card? I know these may seem like extreme noob questions - But hey, Im a noob. I read these forums all day. Every thread, every post -- But Im still not sure on what to do.

I have SPrecovery and Clockwork recoveries ---- I backed everything up and I will create a new nandroid backup now. What about the kernel I have now, because its obviously not setup correctly.

If someone can chime in I'd appreciate it - Hell...email me @ bildo818@gmail.com Im at work as a bill collector, so I am on my droid ALL DAY! This phone is just way too interesting to give up on and I want to try, just paranoid of breaking something. But I think that the root access process would be the worst of the bricking, so I feel semi comfortable.

Any help or suggestions - Even jsut a quick process order would be great. I'll read into all the steps - But if someone could outline the process for me --- Ill find someway to make it up to you

If you created a nandroid backup, it will give you that backup as an option when you boot into recovery (clockwork or SP) and do a nandroid restore. As far as flashing another ROM, just download the ROM you want, rename it 'update.zip', and then clear your data and cache from recovery before applying your new update. Then you can batch restore all your apps when you redownload Titanium Backup.

AWESOME! So I was assuming correctly then - 1 more quick question ... going from CM to BB - when do I do the nandroid restore? Or do I only do that if I am experiencing a lot of problems and trying to restore to factory defaults w/ root access?

I really appreciate the response- I've posted a few times here because this forum seems the friendliest to noobs - However I wasn't getting any responses - After reading about this Rom update, I was getting really interested in updating my rom

Think of a Nandroid backup as a complete image of what your phone was like at the moment you made it. The only reason to use the Nandroid would be if you experience problems with a new ROM or theme, or if you don't like a ROM or theme and want to go back to what you had before.

A Nandroid makes this easier as you can go back to exactly what you had before (no need to restore your apps or re set up your home screen or anything). There are some who keep a Nandroid of their favorite ROMs and simple flash Nandroids when they feel like they want to go back a forth between them...

I'm sure I get what you are asking... A nandroid restore is done when you are having issue with a ROM or Theme, for instance if you flash a new ROM and get stuck at the M logo screen or have nothing but force closes on all your apps.

You would then reboot into recovery (hold x while powering the phone on) and then select nandroid restore (or whatever the option is in your recovery of choice) then you simply select the nandroid you wish to restore.

Is that what you are asking?

Many devs, especially earlier on, would use a nandroid backup to install their roms with rather than an update.zip. For example, some of Pete's roms required the use of a nandroid backup (there where no update.zips)...

EXACTLY why I was asking - Boy am I glad I posted here. Thank you guys so much --- And thanks for the other person who replied why the nandroid backups were needed.

I will be doing this tonight and will post my results tomorrow. Not that you guys care, but I like to thank those who help.

One more question - Do I need to get rid of the kernel I have? Its a bekit kernel - My battery life sucks. I have it at 900 max - 250 min - And I unplug my phone and within 1 or 2 mins, it shows 90%!

I just bought 5 3' USB and 5 6' USB to keep one at every place I would be sitting with my phone - Car, bed, PS3, PC, work PC, Inlaws etc.... :-)

Loved it while it worked. I sure wish I could get it to work again, but I have lost hope. I have spent the entire day trying but it just doesn't work for me anymore. I get the continuous boot loop and its driving me crazy! Especially since I had it working just fine at one point. I decided to try a different theme for the heck of it. As I was downloading it I realized I hadn't backed up my previous one. Now, no matter what I do, I get the boot loop. I wiped 3 times, I tried EVERY kernal available, I don't know what else to do at this point. Like I said its so frustrating because I did have it working before not to mention all the people who have it running without any problems. I even recommended it to a friend and he loves it. It's so much smoother and faster I WANT IT BACK...

Not sure but if it were me, using Clockwork Recovery, go into the partitions menu and wipe boot, system, cache etc. from there as well, seems more thorough.

tjreishus,

Did you use one of Pete's themes or try to install your own? Only Pete's themes are supported in BB, which would explain your boot loops if you installed a different one.
