Root Bugless Beast V0.1 FRF57

I only have 1 hour left before I leave and I need maps for my trip. Any help would be GREAT! I tried the "Map fix" by macdaddy. I installed via CW so I used those instructions. The problem I have is that NONE of those files exist on my phone. In root explorer, I went to exactly where they should be, but they are not there. I then tried to clear the data, but when I go into manage my apps, I don't have Maps listed. It doesn't exist at all, and I still cant install it.

Got it installed and running, but i just flashed back to nexFro. I dont like this BB version nearly as much as NexFro. The app drawer is clunky and more distracting than need be.

I did a complete wipe of dada/cache/system/boot and the installed BB. Then I just went to the market and downloaded it and it worked fine.

Just wanted to share, even though I haven't used it much, it's now been 6 hours, and I have 90% battery.....best battery life I've ever gotten with the droid.

While Pete was great at posting the changelog and options, this is the first time to my knowledge that he didn't post installation instructions with his work. :(

I am an Android beginner, not having flashed a ROM since BB0.7. I would GREATLY APPRECIATE IT if someone would give me precise, brainless step-by-step instructions on how to get this thing on my phone. I've downloded the ROM, the baseband and the kernel. NOW WHAT???

I have SPRecovery and have done an advanced nandroid backup in anticipation of this update. I do not have CWMod, ROM Manager or adb. Feel free to PM it to me, but surely someone else has the same situation. Thank you!

...and that's why I asked. I know there is more to it than update.zip such as applying baseband and kernel. Thanks for the FAQ link, I read it and still have questions. So here I am, cluttering up your forum with stupid questions (which I was very hesitant to do).

You can change the default launcher to launcherpro (much better.) Go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > select 'All' at the top > touch Launcher > Force Stop.

Next time you press 'home' make LauncherPro the default.

I couldn't get wifi or market to work w/NexFro. Pete's BB FRF57 v01 installed with everything working perfectly. Can't wait for Fab to theme Pete's version.

Ok using SPRecovery this is what you have to do:

BBFroyo ROM steps:
1.Using your computer, or Astro File Manager, rename your file to update.zip
2. Move the update.zip file on to the root of your memory card.
3. Turn off your phone.
4. Hold down the "x" key on your keyboard. Turn on your phone. Keep holding that x key until you get the SPRecovery Screen ( it will have a pic of your android and text in orange i think )
5. Clear Data and Cache
6. Go to Install and click allow install. it looks like nothing happens but scroll down to the Install/SDcard/update.zip
7. Wait for it to say "Install complete"
8. Go back and click "reboot system"

These are your basic steps, im by no means a professional and your gonna have to do some thinking because my steps are NOT exact, they are more of a guide.

When your booted all up, go back into either AstroManager or PC and delete that update.zip file.

Repeat the same process ( minus the clear data and cache) for your baseband and kernel zip files ( its tedious i know but easy )

Also, bear in mind that inbetween you might have to re input your gmail info and/or reactivate your phone. I believe the ROM will make you put your gmail info again, and the baseband will make you have to reactivate your phone.

Just rememeber though, always ask questions :)

I used CW revcovery...Here's what I did
Put BB 0.1, and kernel of choice on your SD card via USB
reboot in recovery
wipe date and cache (i did this twice)
go to install zip from sd card
choose zip (FRF57v01)
install zip
wait for it to finish

Then, before you reboot
Go back to install zip from SD card, and install the Kernel the very same way, except no need to wipe data and cache again, unless you feel the need.

I installed my baseband with SP recovery, but you can easily do it with CW as well. I just changed the baseband to update.zip on my SD card, then installed through SP.

Good luck sir.

EDIT: I *JUST* NOTICED YOU SAID YOU DONT HAVE CW RECOVERY. MY BAD. YOU SHOULD GET IT THO!! =)

Has anyone had the problem, it seems like everytime, as soon as I'm starting to download something it switches over to 1X, when I have full 3G at work.

Which kernel and baseband did you use? I have C.01.43.01P Baseband and the P3 250-1250MHz kernel for 2.2. Am I on the right track or has one of those already been shown to be incompatible?

Thanks again for the help... I'm close! :D

okay no flash for me...so the steps to try and get flash are as follows correct:
download the flash pk.
move to sd card
install via Astro correct?

Also, im not a fan of the 3D drawer...is that a froyo feature or can i go back to the regular drawer???

If so where could i find a theme like Pete's BB v1.1 Nextheme ?

Launcher pro beta has the has the regular drawer . Its in the market. Def my favorite launcher .

The baseband does not matter in regards to the ROM. The baseband is more for your radio. If you're getting good signal now you don't need to worry about this. As far as the kernel definitely do a nandroid backup prior to installing the 1250MHz. Some phones don't like certain kernels, if it doesn't like it try a lower kernel.

I just had issues rebooting into recovery, tried it many times finally had to switch to SPRecovery and one of my old ROM's anyone else have this issue?

Am I the only having this problem. The phone is fast and smooth. However, when I'm using it while charging it, I get lag. The lag is so bad that I cant deal with it. But when I remove it from the charger, its fast again???

Are you using SetCPU profiles? If so, the Charging Profile speed may be too low.

Ya I didn't have any of those issues with NexFro so it is hard for me to give up the looks when there isnt any difference in speed or functionality.
