Root building cm7 from source

i think he means the opensource.samsung.com it has some funky device profile.
if its like most ones I seen, its complete useless too lol. I've seen one LG src that had a semi normally device tree lol, everything else just merged into asop src.

yea, you have to pretty much rip apart the asop repo and use it for only that specific phone. no device tree or anything. sad really. i think the kernel source is ok if i remember right.

wtf ya adding from the mpcs src???
did i misunderstand something?
I dont recall exactly how/what comes with it, but LG, Huawei's etc come with kernel src and platform src, actually more of a patch for aosp. You have to get the specified android version adn then merge the platform src with the aosp src n then build accordingly per the instruction. It should build everything you need. But with samsungs track history dont be surprised shyt is missing. Shouldnt need anything from the phone as you do with CM*.
that helsp a TON bro, thank you so much!
i just didnt want to use requisit0's profiles since he himself said they were a bit messy and plus i wanted to do as much as i could on my own just to learn.
I told you building that was nothing like building CM*!!! All it need it whats in the download from samsung + AOSP and setup n build per the READM
anyhow, its been crazy busy last few days with work, on about 3 hours sleep since 4th of july, so i havent done a whole lot since..ill get back on it tonite after my daughters bday party

if you are using req's repo you dont need jack from the samsung src lol. Just run the extract-files.sh or git clone his vendor tree. ;)

i see what you mean, but i did git clone his tree the first time i tried to build, but this time i wanted to do it all on my own because its the only way i can learn lol.
ill put it on github as soon as tomorrow..ive just been getting hammered with shows left and right, and havent used the same internet connection for more than an hour or so lol

hey link that github when it gets up. i wanna see the camera. i dont have the aosp source and it would take like 4 days to download. lol
