Built in tethering via Bluetooth!

Wow, GREAT post. Thank you so much, it is truly that easy on the mac. Pair, and then click the connect to network. I had no idea it would be so easy. So we aren't going to get charged for this?

Here at work I'm getting .68 Mb/s down and .33 Mb/S up... Seems a little slow, but definitely works for news/e-mail browsing.

Tethering with BT now. Thanks...I was close - I was missing one thing on mac that I had to do manually and that was to go into Network Preferences and add a BT PAN Service and then connect via that method. I was thinking this may get setup automatically for some configs. Not sure why it didn't on mine but it does make sense you have to ensure you get an IP this way.

Seems my net connection is in and out unfortunately - will see if I can work on that.

Thanks Theeulogy. Worked the first time using my older Win XP laptop and a rocketfish bluetooth adaptor, $20 from best buy. I don't ever see using this very much, but it will be handy on the occasional road trip. No more searching out free wi-fi access in hotel parking lots.

Not sure what I am missing, I followed the steps as discussed (and shown on the YouTube video on first page of this thread),.. I got the pairing but no internet access...

I see a few people had some problems, and then got things going for them, but no real answers how they fixed their problem.

Any ideas on a common issue that might cause the hang up?

using windows 7 here..

OK, I paired my bluetooth and it was installing the updates. But, I keep getting told that it is missing a driver for a BT peripheral. I cannot locate one. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks to the OP. Got BT tethering to work between my X and Xoom. Speeds are very nice also, much better than expected!

I am pleased to report that this still works under GB .596 - I am using it right now. Just wanted to see if it still works. I have an aircard, but this has saved me in the past when I forgot it and desparately needed to get online for work.

I paired the laptop with my Droid X but no wifi whatsoever. In the device says "connected to media audio and panu".
I have no idea how can u guys do it.
