Root BusyBox, what gives!

Hello all!
I'm not new to this rooting gig, I've done about 6+ phones in total so I have an idea of what I'm doing.
That aside.
I cannot for the life of me get BusyBox installed! I've changed locations, I've changed versions, I updated my SU bin. But it always fails. Does anyone have any idea? Please. I need my BB my E3D and 3 EVO 4Gs gave me no issues along with the Hero, but this HTC is a jerk!

It's HTCDev root, TWRP recovery, OS 4.1 stock rom, SU tested and works. I just cannot figure it out :(

Howdy!

i don't remember having to actually install it, but there is a lot i don't remember. I am thinking it came with whatever custom rom I installed or was installed when I rooted.

That being said, one of the guys will chime in, I am sure.

in the meantime, have you been trying the busybox installer app from the playstore? I used that on the og evo. Gave you the option to load different versions, I think.

What kind of error message is it giving you?

don't give up, these guys will get you straight! :)

I've tried busybox and busybox installer, both throw the error
"Installing *version here(I've tried all options)* failed. Please try installing a different version." Every option, both smart and normal modes FAIL same error, try different locations FAIL. Any insight? Please? Or am I looking at having to ROM it?

hmmmm what rom are you on, stock? have you tried other roms? being s-on you might want to try viper or meanbean. i never had any issues with busybox on those roms.

It's stock. I don't really want a "custom" ROM, if I could find a nice stock one with the bloatware gone, I'd do it. I have never had an issue doing BB before on any other EVO I've done, my 3D and 4G went just fine, along with my NS4G so this really throws a wrench in my gears

Delete the SU app from your phone. Go to the Play Store and redownload the app.

Open the app then hit menu and do a binary update.

From there redownload the Busybox installer and see if it works from there. :)

I think the SU that was out at one point was not updating properly. Maybe that's the underlying problem with Busybox.

I just tried that, and still no go. I'm about to just find a stock ROM and call it a day. This is ridiculous that my EVO won't take it. ARG! I'm getting frustrated

yeah but viper and meanbean are very much stock looking. they have bloatware removed and they have added tweaks to give better performance out of your device.

if you want a stock rom then you can go here:
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-lte-all-things-root/614073-list-utilities-roms-kernels.html.
under the shipped roms section, you will find the stock rooted roms there.....but i still would suggest the other roms i mentioned before, just make a nandroid backup and try them out and if you do not like them then you can try the stock versions if you like.
