So i flashed butter toast kernel ... where is the setting for it ? can i just not adjust anything after flashing ? it would kinda silly if the only chance i can adjust things is right in the process of installing ..

We are gonna need to know a lot more than this. Like what rom you're running, namely...
The settings when you install are the default settings. Those can be changed using apps like rom toolbox, incredi control, set cpu, kernel tuner, etc etc.

the design of the on/off button makes it hard to tell whether im on or off haha hopefully i have it on On

It depends on your governor and what you're doing on your phone. If it needs power it will turn it back on.

Exactly. The only kernel I know of that has both cores enabled all the time is Mobz's Power Kernel.
When you change CPU setting in Kernel Tuner it says it first enables both cores, presumably having to do with being able to change the settings on them for when they are both active. KT is also neat in that you can change things like the softkey backlight, s2w options and USB fastcharge really quickly.

Having both cores active all the time will have a massive battery drain; the correct method of handle dual core is to only activate the second CPU when the first is under heavy load and shuts it backs off when not needed. It would be highly inefficient to have both CPUs on 24/7, that's like having two workers, one is kinda working and the other is just sitting around, but you still have to feed both of them breakfast, lunch, and dinner(or you still have to pay him a full paycheck). And the other hand having one worker, and a part time worker(backup worker), you only pay/feed the part time worker only when he works. You save money/food(battery life).

I have been noticing less connectivity with WiFi and 4g with this kernel. At school where I usually get great WiFi now sometimes it doeant even connect. 4g I used to have at home , now doesn't connect. Everything works great . I am on harmonia, s-off, twrp 1.1.1.1, jbear hboot 1.57.5757. Any thoughts ?

I don't know if it was me, or that combination, but I tried it about 3 days ago, and did not have any WiFi connectivity. But when I installed another kernel, WiFi came back.

I think ButteredToast and Anthrax both have problems with 4.2.1 ROM's. There's a post by raptoro07 in one of the 4.2.1 ROM threads on XDA that says he found a a way to repack the Anthrax kernel to make it work, so that would probably apply to ButteredToast as well. I haven't tried it myself but you can PM him on XDA or the Anthrax website if you want to know how to do it.
The AOSP version of the Mac kernel works fine with dastin's WFTN CM10.1 ROM, so it might work with Evervolv as well.

Anyone know why 192 is set as the maximum screen-off frequency? It's grayed out in Kernel Tuner, so I can't adjust it. I recall specifically choosing 540 as the max frequency during the aroma installer. When I installed Anthrax, I was able to adjust this, but with Buttered Toast, not only am I not allowed to adjust it, it's not even set to the frequency I chose.
I've been reading how 384 is the new minimum standard frequency...so I wonder why this is grayed out and stuck on 192. Also, since I listen to music with the screen off, and I have other processes going on as well, I wouldn't want such a low frequency as my max for screen off.
Why is 384 the new low? Are there stability issues with 192?

Yes. Some people have had problems coming out of sleep or even getting reboots when the minimum screen off frequency is set to 192.

When the clock speed gets too low while the screen is off that's what causes problems.
And I'm looking at Kernel Tuner on AOKP 3.5.2 with BT rls16 and it's showing minimum as 384 and maximum as 1512.

OK. I'm showing the same thing for that.
I'm not sure why it is set to 192 and grayed out. Might be a bug in kernel tuner or a problem with the BT installation, but that definitely doesn't sound right.
