Buy S2 or wait for S3?

Hi guys. I currently have a semi-broken nokia 6700 slide so it is definitely the time to buy a new phone. Iam searching for the phones right now i decided to buy an Android smartphone and the best android phone is Galaxy S2 right now. But there are rumors about S3 to be released soon and i cant buy a new phone for 2 years after i bought this one. Iam really out of patience after a year and a half using this phone and do you think i should buy S2 or wait for S3 to come out?

If you can wait until June = S3
Anything else means now = S2
 
Get S2. S3 will be "previewed" next month-mobile world congress.

Wanted to get a smartphone since Froyo announcement-saw the motorola with turn by turn navigation. HTC Desire came and left. Heard of the Super AMOLED screen so it was worth the wait.

I got my SGS2 on 1st May. One month after Amazon UK started making it available. Price I paid was

If you're a hardcore mobile gamer, probably not, but the s2 is fast at everything, so in two years it will still be plenty fast enough. When most tasks take a fraction of a second to complete it can't get much faster, the new phones will be better at more specialised tasks like graphics intensive games, video encoding, photo effects etc.

Yes. The HTC Desire is 2 years now. Aside from no official ICS and HTC struggling with getting gingerbread+sense on, it is still a good phone. SGS2 should be able to last longer purely due to popularity.

Also the only reason I use the phone is for my meetings, appointments. Games are nice, but they come and go. At the end of the day it depends on what you want from a phone. To be fair, I take a lot of photos on my old SE cybershot phone. SGS2 has a good camera sensor, though I will not say it as great as SE Arc Exemor sensor. But then the Arc pales to sgs2 in almost everything else.

Froyo was a big jump in android. Gingerbread not so. ICS is. I don't see what else you want from the phone after ICS. NFC chip is nice, though I don't like the idea of using my phone swiping for stuff in public places.
 
If you really can't wait, then there really isn't much choice;

The top smart phones are SGS2, IP4s, HTC Sensation, and probably Motorola Razr. They all have different advantages but my personal preference is SGS2. Others might not have the same thinking though.

Its really fast. Can run everything pretty well currently, and I believe it can last for 2 years. It might not be able to run everything at the end of the 2nd year, but it can run enough. I have so many games in my phone that I haven't had time to finish playing anyway. There are enough stuff out there to last 2 years easily.

Im not much of a mobile gamer and dont plan of being one as long as i have my xbox 360 ps3 and pc running. So if you say it will be more than enough for 2 years except gaming then there's no point of waiting. Thanks everyone.
 
Good luck with purchase-you will not be disappointed. At least you have a choice of three official colours:
black, white or pink

Yes it will be shown in Feb. Carrier deals, etc, you'd see it in April earliest-like the S2. Even then you have to refresh the amazon page a lot of times as it sells out quick. It was out on Amazon UK early April. Sold out same day. Another batch came in early May, sold out the same day as well. I got mine in the third batch in May. By June you should be able to get it a lot more places and prices will stabilised. My dates are very conservative not the premium prices paid if you want it early. Also depending on which side of the globe you are, you may not get it officially until July:rolleyes:
 
I got my S2 the day after it was released from local CPW and will probably do same thing with s3. Did pay full price sim free though.

I did try that with CPW but all CPW I went said they are only willing to sell it if its on contract. Like I'm going to pay
