Buy TBolt now or wait?

Should I get the TBolt or wait for the the Motorola Targa? I can't decide if I want to wait for the Targa or some other quad/dual core phone or just get the TBolt now and if something really awesome does come out pay full retail or just wait till my contract ends.

Your in the TB Forum, so your gonna get a lot of buy the TB now answers. I would say it depends on how keen you are to pay full retail in about 5 months, because some serious hardware will be droppin by then. If your cool with droppin the cash, get the TB now...its a good phone, and as you probably know, the speed is bananas.

Buy a out of contract Thunderbolt, then when something better pops up in a few months, use your upgrade.

Probably wait now. LG Revolution has 16gb internal storage (plus a microsd), a dedicated video chip for decoding, hdmi out, Netflix built in and a different radio chip (maybe less battery issues).

IF the specs and features pan out, the Rev seems a better option. Rooting used to be a trump card for HTC, but most folks do not root and the process is not as simple on the TB.

The one negative is Bing, but besides that, LG uses the vanilla Android UI.

Added:

The display apparently uses the same tech as the iPhone, so probably better for battery life.

I am in the same boat as you, and considering waiting, but not knowing when these phones are coming out is the big question.

What are you waiting for thats different or better? Tbolt will get the next several google updates. What do you want to do with a dual core processor on your phone? There really isnt anything much different or better coming out this year or maybe next year until they get new battery technology and google optimizes their os for dual core processors but even then I'm not really sure what that means or how its beneficial. The tbolt is a good phone and coming from a droid x I feel like a worthy upgrade. I say jump on it

I agree with everything the person above me said. But ill add something. Do you ask this everytime something new comes out? Do you like just sitting around and waiting? Because whrn these new phones come out in five months, guess what. Your gonna say, hmmm maybe i should wait even five months more to see what comes next. Stop waiting and get whats available to you now. The tb is the best phone I've had so far, coming from an Eris then a Droid x.People need to stop making a million threads asking this same question. Go pick one up, if you dont like it return it within in 14 days. It really is that simple.

I'm sure you know the score. There will be another phone out in a few months, then another one after that. Heck, HTC will put out another phone that's "better" than this before the end of the year. I don't know how much you're going to be able to do with dual/quad core phones, but there will be one app or another that will take advantage of it.

Two important things

1). If you're going to be on Verizon and on a 4G phone anyway, you want to make sure that you're in contract before unlimited data is gone. So, you'll likely not be able to wait for the fall.

2). The sooner you get the phone, the sooner you'll be able to get your next phone.

...(LG Revolution) Netflix built in...

Netflix might be a game changer.

If you've waited this far, why not wait a little longer to see if prices come down once there are more 4G choices on Verizon. One thing to consider though, will Verizon try to tie all new phones to a tiered 4G data plan or will you get unlimited data on your non-TB phone?

My first android phone was the Eris..... then D2 and now the TBolt. Hands down the Tbolt blows both phone outta the water. The Tbolt stock is faster and smooth then my D2 was overclocked.

The way I see it is you can either enjoy LTE right NOW, get the fastest speeds and lock yourself into unlimited data, or wait for the rest of your life for something. Waiting will leave you that feeling of being dissatisfied and possible chronic buyers remorse.
Just enjoy what's available right now since you don't even have a clear timeframe nor the device that you want.

The only problem is buyer's remorse can go both ways, he buys the TB and then in a month or so there are newer faster phones.

I really don't see anything coming that's faster in the next 5/6 months. The revolution is an LG phone, ehhh! They skipped on the dual core like its cousin has (G2X), and this Samsung Charge is just god ugly, plus its a Samsung, we all know how VZW is with Samsung updates. I doubt either on will be faster then the TB is right now. Rumor has it the Bionic was cancelled because it wouldn't play nice with LTE, and suposibly had overheating issues, so who knows when its replacement the Targa will drop. Only phone is see really shattering some speed records is the Galaxy S2, again Samsung (updates) And most likely not coming until next fall. TB right now is the Fastest available, and may be for the next few months.

What is the faster phone that's months away going to do better than the current single core Bolt?
What are you gonna be using it for? Unless you're playing multiplayer online games on your phone or bench press 24/7 what is the real benefit that you expect to get from that dual core phone?
I'm really curious and have been trying to understand people that are obsessing with faster phones and tech specs more than user experience or network for instance.

If I had the choice I would take a dual core as opposed to a single. The longevity of the phone would be greater, in the next 6 months a lot of things will be optimized for dual core, not everything, but a lot of stuff. Just look at the new Sense OS 3.0, HTC is saying it needs a dual core to run, and will only be available on the Sensation, and EVO 3D! Total BS, they're way of pushing new devices down our throat...But for the long run I'd prefer to have a dual core in my phone.

Are you even sure what Sense 3.0 is gonna look like and feel like, or you're just caught up with the number at the end? I would take vanilla gingerbread over sense any day. As you are probably aware, HTC phones have always been easy to root, and tweak to the extreme, and if you end up absolutely loving the Sense 3.0 experience, I'm sure someone will port it or at least the concept of it on a single core phone. If you are on 1 year contract, why does it matter what phone comes out in 6-9months?
That said, if OP prefers to daydream over the future phones and their specs, and not utilize empty LTE network, then perhaps he should wait.
