how can I buy things from the Android Market?

I've already got it tied to my google account -- should I enter the gift card number into google checkout?

i found some other posts along thee lines but they weren't terribly helpful.

You need to use a google checkout account.

It would appear they are talking about a Visa or Amex gift card. Ever try using one of those on the net? Every time I have it has been nothing but trouble.

Can't say that I have, no. I do use the Amazon Gift Cards that I get from Curse Gaming though. Those are easy peazy lemon squeezy to use!

I was talkinga bout using a Visa gift card, yeah. They work fine in person so I see little reason they wouldn't work okay over the net.

Because over the net they want the address associated with the account. There have been some improvements with this since I've tried, but still have seen problems. A friend just tried to make a purchase with an AmEx gift card for an internet order and the company on the other end was unable to get the card to process.

I use prepaid debit cards. They obviously are prepaid, load them up at the register, or whenever I need to buy something, then use it. I loaded 20$ on it at the store, took it home and "activated it", then attached it to my account. To activate it, I needed a valid address, SSN, etc... Once that was out of the way, it functioned as a regular credit or debit card. Obviously if you live outside the US, the ways of "activating" the cards are a bit different I'm sure, but once you do, you shouldn't have any issues. I never did nor have I to this day.

ooh, good idea. What sorts of stores do you get those?

Any store really. Gas startions, department stores, Target, Walmart, 7-11, etc. Anyplace that sells prepaid debit. Which for the most part, is anywhere lol. Just make sure the card you have has a Visa or Mastercard logo. If so, generally you can use it anywhere a "real" debit or credit card is used.

Annonymous7 is right a visa green dot card can be purchased most any where. The best place to get one is at WallMart for only $3.00,$3.00 to load there after. This is what I use to purchase apps.
