no they don't, but probably for the same reason moonshine doesn't come in cans.... because it's privately made due to the legal status. Legalize it, and it won't take long for Big Tobacco to get ahold of it and filter those bastards up.

however, I don't have a lot of faith in a pot smoker to go out of their way to be considerate. If there's a way to be inconsiderate while smoking it, they will find a way.

The difference is that it's perfectly legal to brew your own fermented drink for personal consumption. It only becomes illegal when you attempt to sell it. One can ferment beer, mead or ale in certain quantities without violating the law. Even liquor and moonshine are legal to brew in personal quantities when not intended to be sold.

I believe the amount per year is 220 eight ounce bottles, or 180 12 ounce bottles for beer. I'm not sure though, it's been a while since I've read up.

When you hear about drinking and driving/alcohol related deaths, 95% percent of the time, or more, it deals with store bought product. People that are bright enough to brew their own are usually the more responsible types. There's a meticulous mindset needed for brewing that lends credence to the idea that home-brewers (and likely home-growers) would not need the same kind of watchdogging that is necessary for those that buy from a dealer (be they legal or illegal)

ya I agree....... drinking and driving must be lower among home brewers because they are brighter, more responsible, or meticulous.......

it couldnt possibly be because home brewers are ALREADY AT HOME when they are drinking

Well I tormented myself about this prop for several weeks. Kept going back and forth on how I would vote, I eventually did vote Yes, and as all of you know by now, it did not pass.

Here are the official numbers according to CNN:

California Proposition 19:
Legalizing Marijuana

No 4,014,580 54%
Yes 3,443,358 46%
100% of precincts reporting.

You know, for being a pretty liberal state, California tends to be conservative on some key issues.

Lost by almost 600,000 votes. I bet if some of those pot heads who are still living at home, high everyday, had gotten off their ass, registered, and actually voted, this probably would have passed. Sorry to bash pot heads, but I've never met anyone productive who is a pot head. Shows you that every vote counts.

Anyways, I guess that is the end of this story for several years at least.

Thus, brighter, more responsible and meticulous. They've set things up so they don't have to go out for alcohol ;)

care to explain this statement?

The sad thing is, if it was legalized, Big Tobacco would end up being the only one making a profit from it.

unfortunately, that's probably true... sad, but true

it just means smokers are the most annoying people (while doing their habit) than any other group with their habit (of currently legal choices, I'm not comparing this to hardcore druggies or anything) The cig smokers all think of only themselves when it comes to their habit. Their smoke stinks, they liter, and they take over any outdoor area (which is STILL better than when they were allowed to smoke in resturants, etc.)

So, out of all my dealings with pot smokers (college roomies, ect), there is nothing that shows me that pot smokers are going to be any less annoying than cig smokers.

even with the legal status of it, and objections to my college roomies that they don't smoke it in the dorm because it would prevent me from getting hired in my future career if they get busted with me in the room, they still wouldn't stop when I asked.... Funny thing was, when I told them I was going to call the cops the next time they smoked in the dorm, they stopped. lol but they still thought I was the one being unreasonable.

bong water stains on the carpet, drug paraphenalia (goodness I butchered that spelling ahhaha) laying out all over the place, even when other roomies said "my parents are coming tomorrow, hide your stuff)

If you do a little research you will discover that you are NOT allowed to make hard liquor. Beer and wine, yes. The hard stuff, NO.

Do you guys really think the LEA's (Law Enforcement Agencies) and the Prison Industrial complex want this to happen?
They stand to lose a PILE OF MONEY.

This is where you are being treated like idiots and manipulated.
Beer is the most dangerous drug out there but that is legal.
That is the gateway drug for kids. Alcohol is much more destructive on every level.

They should have made ad's this is your brain on booze and show car accidents, beaten kids, beaten women, hostility, the cost for treatment for medical related issues and then show this is your brain on pot...people sleeping, eating, or laughing at stupid things.

Hemp seems to offer a better material for clothing and other things could be made out of a weed but do you think the Forestry Industry wants that out there.

So let's do a quick count for those that stand to lose BIG MONEY
1. LEA's
2. Prison Industry
3. Beer companies
4. Paper companies
5. Textile companies
6. Dealers, they keep the prices high right now.

That's some serious coin to be lost therefore it's cheaper to keep you in fear.

Marijuana is a medication and should not be accessible to anybody without a prescription, just like anti-biotics, coumadine (prescribed to heart patients), etc. In my country, the military psychiatrist can issue a permit for using Marijuana to soldiers who suffer from shell-shock. In such a case the person can smoke Marijuana in public without being arrested.

and for what reasoning? marijuana has been used as a recreational substance for thousands of years and we've only deemed it unlawful in the past 100. its been illegal for around 1% of the time it's been in use. this is not because it was found to be a harmful substance, but rather a cause fueled by unjust political motives.

This is what a lot of people has said if the users would of not got high, went down and voted. the prop 19 had a good chance of passing.

I have no real view on weather pot should be legal or not. as I am not a user of the product I could really care less. The one problem I see is if pot get legalized. Then people that uses the harder drugs will be like "you made pot legal so you can make more of the harder ones legal too."

Hey the people got it to a vote. too bad they couldn't drop the bowl to vote :p

I always thought the gov didnt like how they couldn't regulate it and collect taxes on it. As it can grow almost anywhere.
