I don't know why your stock calendar doesn't work for you. Mine does and I have Cricket too. Have you tried installing a different launcher? I am using LauncherPro Plus and it's awesome! I love it.

There is another Calendar Widget and that's what it is called at the market 'Calendar Widget' by OnyCOM. It's free and you might want to give it a try. It's the one I am using currently.
