Camera 360 - Better Picture Quality?

hmm, well true..when you put it that way, you're def. right...i've got a decent 7mp canon from like 3 years ago that still takes good shots. thanks for puttin it in perspective lol

Sorry for being OT but I find it ironic that a few people discourage the use of Task Managers as Android will take care of those tasks left in memory, that those tasks don't use memory or resources and that there is a reason for them running. But then there are the examples as posted in this thread. Personally, I think some apps _do_ need to be shut down manually.

I'm been using Camera 360 and think it takes much better pictures then the stock program. The issues I've been are that it can never find the gallery (error message asking to post problem and contact programmer), some times it will no longer save any photos (and causes the same problem with the OEM camera program) and this can only be corrected by a restart. I'd LOVE to keep using the program but these are big issues.

I just sent an email to the developer with a link to this thread. In my email I told him that the general consensus here on the forum seems to be that it's a great app, but the battery drain problem is sufficient for many (most?) of us to have removed it from our phone. Now we wait to see if there is any sort of response...

I really want to like this app and will try to stick with it a bit longer. It is light years ahead of the stock camera app but it does have some flaws that I hope the dev gets figured out. So far I have been able to handle the not closing and draining battery issue by using the running services setting to quit the app. The other day it locked up on me though and had to reboot the phone in order to get out of it. I do like the anti-shake feature and all of the other enhancements so I will stick with it for awhile.

eh, i'm not diggin the fact that it doesn't save half of the pictures i take. that's pissing me off.
Yeah, it's done that to me a few times. It appears it doesn't save the images until you close the app (??). I've had the app crash a few times, so of course there's no chance for it to save the pics I took and they're lost.

I need a "manual" for this program too. I took a picture the other day and it made it black & white... I realize it has options to do this but it kinda threw me off.

It looks like the update this morning has fixed the app not closing issue. I closed it and it no longer shows in running programs.

Thanks for letting us know. I reinstalled the app and took a picture of a sleeping dog (I let him lie). Nothing showing in Running Services after exiting the app. Guess I can start using it again. :)

Fantastic news!
Downloading the update as we speak.

I have stuck with the app since I really like it, but having to close it every time after I used it was getting old.

Decided to pay for the ad free full version actually.

hmmm image stabilization no longer free. That was my favorite part. Guess I will have to decide whether worth $3.99 for that. It might be especially if it really has fixed the closing issue.

it has fixed the closing issue... but theres a bunch of features that require paying for the app now.... kinda sucks....

i'm having an issue though where my pictures look fine in the preview immediately after taking the picture but when viewing in "Photos" it looks all crappy and theres little like white spots in various areas of the picture...

i haven't viewed the pictures on my computer yet... just on my phone... i'll test that out and see what happens there...

anyone else with this problem?

I'm getting the white spots on mine too. Changing the effect to 'normal mode' made them less noticeable, but not perfect.

I found that if I set my ISO to "deblur", that would help with the, well, blur. :) It seems ok and I didn't have to rely on image stabilization.

DO NOT UPDATE to the newest version! The dev took away the higher resolutions so you can now only take pics at 320 x 480. That's pretty jacked up. It doesn't even warn you and still gives you all the options when you go into the settings...but when you transfer or email the pictures, you find out that they're tiny.

I'm running ver 0.9.1 and can take/save pictures at 1944 x 2592 as I cold before. According to the Market, this is the latest version.

Though, the nag screen when exiting does have a list of functions in the paid version and one of them is, "All supported photo sizes".

Have you looked at the picture in the album, then hit Menu -> More -> Details ?

It will show you the actual saved resolution.

I was looking at the resolution as reported on my PC. Per your suggestion I checked the Photo Gallery on the phone... reports those photos as 1944 x 2592, 1.47MB.

I guess you lucked out then. I've even uninstalled and reinstalled and tried all different sorts of ISO and configurations. It looks like it's a problem with a lot of other people on the Market, judging by their anger and complaints with the newest update.

And I just tried taking a picture with the stock HTC camera app and got the proper resolution that I wanted...so it's a problem with the app.

I updated and then could not find that sketch feature. I then read the comments and thought I also made a mistake in updating. I have other issues with the program so I needed to delete and download/install again. After I spent a little time I found all the features it offered before. They are in different places now. For example... the sketch effect is now under "Funny Mode" but then you need to go back to the camera screen and press on the icon in the upper right corner (when holding phone sideways). Its selected from this area. There are also some other cool effects that have been added.

I think this is a great program.

I think the $4 cost of the paid app is price way too high. I think if the developer were to lower the cost, he would make more money.

I think the developer should have had a better plan on the difference between the free and paid app. Also, the paid app went from ads in the program to ads upon exiting to a nag screen.

I have never been able to get the Gallery to display using the program. Also, I've had issues with the program saving photos... which it seems might now have been fixed. If I could access the Gallery, I'd pay for the app... but I have a hard time paying $4 for it. I'd fork over $2 right now if that was what it cost. I _might_ pay $4 to support the developer but I really want to know what direction he's going with the program.

are you guys who get the low resolution paying for it? i paid for it when it was like 1.99 or something weeks ago..i updated too but i haven't checked my resolution yet

I don't have any problems paying for apps, and I would gladly pay $4 for this program. But the beef that I have with it is that it didn't warn me about the resolution change. I spent all day taking pictures yesterday with my phone, only to find out later that they're just tiny.

My apologies... I stand corrected. I took a lot of photos on Friday, 6/25 and they were all the higher resolution. I must have updated right after that as the test photos I took today were indeed, 426x320. I agree 100%... it's LAME that the developer changed this with _no warning_ whatsoever!

I think this developer has a _GREAT_ product and I think he's _really_ shooting himself in the foot with poor planning/development.

Thank you for confirming that the resolution did indeed change without any warning. Crazy...time to look for a new camera app...

Ok, thankfully, I did a nand backup of my rooted phone last week, before I upgraded this app. I'm now back to version 0.90 and pictures are back at the high resolution and I still have image stabilization and whatnot.
