Help Camera (and motion video) talk - the Ultrapixel and more (tips/discussion)

You might want to try to set the exposure to -1, trying HDR, or applying a custom filter after the picture is taken. Sometimes you just have to play around with the focal point to get the right saturation....

If there's no odd filter setting being used and the lens is clear of anything, you might have a defective unit. Try looking through your filter settings first.

Oh, and are you using the stock camera app, rooted or stock rom?
 
hi all am considering this phone and had a play about int he shop i didnt understand how the zoe setting worked when i took a picture it just looked dark what is it supposed to do?

the normal setting seemed to be better

also this ultrapixel term is it the equivalent to a bigger megapixel camera? i assume thats better then?
 
It just means that the pixels are larger than your typical phone camera's pixels (physically larger = more light captured per pixel).
Better for low light - a larger pixel collects more light.

It also means that you get fewer pixels in the same size sensor. There's a lot of discussion earlier in the thread about why the pixel count is not the most important factor in image quality, regardless of what a decade's simplistic marketing of digital cameras has consistently told people.
 
thanks yes i suppose some of us have been brainwashed into thinking the biger number the better

my pics are always awful in low light so this should be a good step up
 
Hey guys, just got an update for my own HTC One on T-MOBILE and the option for HDR is completely gone. I used this feature a lot, does anyone know if there's still a way to access it or do I need to get an app now?

If not,I'd try the GOOGLE SERVICES FRAMEWORK trick,wipe the cache partition in recovery,re-boot & see if it (the amended/add-on update) [4MB] doesn't pop-up.

I have i seen somewhere that you can take the clip, and make a still shot of it for example a skateboarder jumping, where he appears multiple times in the same shot.... ive seen advertising shots... but wasnt sure if it was just photoshopped etc... any advice welcomed...
 
After you take the Zoe, it'll play through the 3 seconds. After it's done reviewing, you can tap the screen and drag the blue playhead bar to the frame you want and from there you can edit that single frame either way you want it. Pretty nifty, there are a ton of other features that I'm still exploring, even after a week of tinkering with it

So I need some help. I recently went to an iphone 5 from a S4 because I had a lot of trouble getting good pictures of my 11mo old son with the s4. It focused too slowly and overall had a hard time with a subject that wasnt perfectly lit and could sit still for several seconds. the iphone 5 was a big improvement and I am very satisfied with the camera performance, but there are sooooooo many other things that are annoying the crap out of me with this phone. I need an Android phone that is available on Verizon that has a camera that can keep up with the iphone taking quick snaps of a baby that rarely sits still. I'm hoping the one is that phone. please chime in if you take these kind of images and hopefully how it compares to an iphone if you have used one in the past.

Is it possible like every other phone I have owned to lower the MP setting in the camera. Example, I always set all my phones to capture in no more then 1 MP because the majority of my pictures just go quickly online for items I am selling. I do not want to wait for larger resolution pics to upload and/or re size them in another step.

Suggestions? I can't find the option in the camera.

This is a 2 day old Verizon ONE FYI.

Changing the "crop" option will give you a slightly smaller image (and a different aspect ratio).

Or, since this is Android, you can try another app. Camera JB+ has this, and I'm pretty sure the older Camera ICS (which has a free version) does too. So you could set one of them to your default small size, and use the normal camera if you want full resolution.

I know nothing about the S4 or iPhone phone app, but I've had very good experience with the camera on the one. I've found if I quickly hit the shutter button the camera easily keeps up in taking very quick photos, keeping up with my finger. The picture quality comes out quite good as well doing this, even in low light. I was in a dark cigar bar for a friends birthday and you can even see the cigar smoke rising slowly over the course of the photo progression.

What's best is that Google+ will take sequential shots like this and convert them to an animated GIF, which is kinda cool.

Wow. You know, I didn't even think to lok for that feature way back when I first got the One. I just assumed it would be there. Like you said, it has existed on pretty much every phone I have had in the past decade. Surprisingly,I don't see any option for that on my Sprint One either. I mean, for me personally, it doesn't matter. I always set it to the highest available anyway, but I can see your point. I'm always annoyed when extra options are removed. I don't like being FORCED to do things a certain way.

The only option I have is to change the video quality, not the regular pictures.
