Root Camera auto-flash not working with side button

Running Viper ROM and stock camera app

When I have the flash set to auto and use the side button in low-light or even a dark room the camera doesn't flash. However when using the screen button it will flash. Everything else concerning the camera works fine to my knowledge. Not so much a huge issue, just kinda of annoying to have to keep swapping from flash to no flash.

have you tried and wipe dalvik cache and cache? maybe even re-flash the rom. i'm on viper and no issues so far with flash.
