Root camera button if root?

If I was to root my dhd, would it be possible to assign say one of the volume buttons as a dedicated camera button to take pics with? Using the screen is the worst.

I'm pretty sure there are one or two camera apps in the market that offer that already without rooting, if you want to check them out. Can't remember their names unfortunately.

Camera advance has it, although I don't know how good it is as an actual camera app.

It is a lot better than the stock camera app imo and in many other peoples opinions too. No force closing for me
