Camera and Camcorder

New preview API doubles the frame rate from ~10FPS to ~20FPS. Camera now supports portrait orientation, zoom controls, access to exposure data, and a thumbnail utility. A new camcorder profile enables apps to determine device hardware capablities.

Woohoo, faster FPS, that is one thing I noticed right away is how choppy it was WHILE recording, hopefully the extra 10 FPS helps, and it will :)

Thats only when youre previewing, which is before you press the button to start recording, or before you take a picture. Its not DURING recording

That doesn't make any sense, whats the point of upping the preview FPS? That's not going to do anything when recording, which makes me honestly believe that can't be true.

Problem is that there is nothing they (update or no update) can do to make this camera worth even having a camera. JMHO

Thanks Jazziette, no software update will improve the camera, it can only improve the end user experience . In this case the preview

I see the info about camera and is says 3.2 Mpx. I have old Fuji 3Mgpx, and pictures hundred times better. Is there any app to improve this sh****y camera performance? Maybe some one knows how to setup "white balance" or whatever it's needs? pictures quality are terrible.

You are simply not going to have everything you want in a $100 dollar android.

I think Huawei concentrated on the Android features more than other features they thought the user might already have.

The new Huawei phones are coming out with improved features...this is based on feedback from the user so they must have heard you!

:)

I downloaded app called FxCamera.
Here is two pictures I took.
First with original Huawei camera, and second with FxCamera.

The reason why the Ascend has worse picture quality than the Fuji even though the Ascend has more pixels, is because of the lens size. If you compare the size of the lens of both the Ascend and the Fuji camera, you will see that the lens on the Fuji are much bigger than the tiny little dot that the Ascend has for a lens. Megapixels don't tell the whole story. Lens size are actually a much bigger factor of picture quality than the number of Megapixels. Megapixels are for the size of the picture, not the quality. The reason for why bigger lenses reap better pictures is because more light is able to be absorbed by the lens. On the other hand, it is hard for light to reach the lens of the Acend as it is just a little dot.

True.... But what about iPhone? The lens is no bigger that we have, but picture quality is much better.

The lens quality, along with the size, is also a major factor.

Hey Zoos! I think the fxcamera app helped quite a bit. I'm going to download it and give it a try. thanks so much!

:D

It's hard to make an objective judgment on the difference between those 2 pics, zoos, given that they were taken at different distances. If you can take exact (or near-exact) duplicate pictures, we would have a much better comparison for whether that app makes a real difference or not.

Well, then let's all d/ld fxcamera and take pics from the exact same difference and see. :)
