Root camera Not working After Warm 2.2

odawg2104

Newbie
I need alittle help, I have a 002 build with unrevoked root, warm 2.2, and SBC-net-4.2.2-non-havs kernel. This works fine on my device. My roommate has 004 build and i did the same process for him but now his camera and camcorder dont work. I tired flashing netarchy-toastmod-4.1.9.1-cfs-havs-universal kernel but still no luck. even tried the nohavs version and still no luck. Ive tried empty the camera cache still nothing. Basic if u select the camera to be used the camera turns on but it seems like the shutter stays closed and the screen just stays black.. Any help will be appricated

thanks in advance.

The build 004 evos have a new camera, so the hardware is different and requires a newer kernel. His evo probably has a 4.3 build of netarchy. Can you double check that?

I dont know, i havent played around too much with the kernels on the two separate phones, so im just going off what i remember.

But try a few new kernels

The build 004 needs the 4.3 (beta) builds of net's kernel. Put the 4.3 build on and it will work. I have a 004 build and ran into the same thing :)

I believe he has the 002, and the roommate has the 004..
So i dont know if the 4.3 for the 004 camera will work on an older hardware, i havent tried it on mine.
I know a 4.2 and earlier for the 003, 002 hardware wont work on the 004 hardware, so id imagine its both ways.

Op needs a netarchy 4.1.9.1 or a 4.2 kernel, and the roommate needs htc #15, or netarchy 4.3..

But he said in his post he has 4.1.9.1 on both phones, which would make HIS camera work and the ROOMMATES camera NOT work... So, somewhere along the line some numbers are switched around..
OP let us know when you get a chance :)

To clear up any confusion:

4.2.2 and under - works on older phones only. Camera won't work on newer phones
4.3 and up - works on all phones. Camera works for everyone. All netarchy did was add the new camera kernel driver. He didn't remove the old one.

The OP if free to use netarchy 4.3(.1) for both phones, and it will work fine.

EDIT: The same goes for any custom kernel that added the new kernel driver. The devs made them backwards compatible.

Maybe I read the OP wrong, but here is what I see:

He has 002 hardware and installed BC-net-4.2.2-non-havs kernel and it works on his camera....no problems there

He then did the roommate's phone (004 hardware) and did the same thing as he did to his (002 hardware) and the camera/video doesn't work.

As such, I would come to the conclusion that the OP phone/camera works and the roommate's camera doesn't work. That being the case, the OP needs to flash the 4.3 kernel on the Roommate's phone and the camera will work.

Thanks will try this tonight.. I flashed a couple 4.3 i dont know if im getting the right one tho because still nothing. One of the 4.3 cause his evo to go crazy flickering screen and everything..

here are the ones ive tired. and no luck
netarchy-toastmod-4.1.9.1-cfs-havs-universal-signed
and the nonhavs version.

ill try and find the 4.3 tonight unless someone could help a friend with a direct link..

thanks

Try one of these:

http://qap.la/~netarchy/netarchy-toastmod-4.3.1-cfs-havs-nosbc-universal-signed.zip
http://qap.la/~netarchy/netarchy-toastmod-4.3.1-bfs-nohavs-nosbc-universal-signed.zip

The top one is HAVS, and the bottom one is no-HAVS. If you tried 4.3 HAVS, that would explain any instability/screen tearing/flickering you may have had. Supposedly, such issues have been addressed with 4.3.1. That being said, feel free to try the HAVS version if you want to use HAVS. It's up to you.

If you're unaware of the difference, HAVS is Hybrid Adaptive Voltage Scaling. It means that the supplied voltage to the CPU will go up and down based on the current CPU frequency. Some phones can't handle it, hence instability.

Either way, this should fix any camera issues.
