Camera protector

phantom skins do not cover the actual lens, are cut out. If you install a screen protector over the lens, you will want to make sure it is 100% replaceable. Because the slightest dent, scratch, or color distortion problem, and you will need to replace it.

The invisible shield type protectors also slightly distort the camera. I have tried using them, and they do effect the picture.

The best and easiest method I have found for covering the camera is the cheapest, ie thinnest and most flexible, screen protector you can find. Cut it about 1 cm bigger then the camera, and make about 2 or 3 of them. Store the extras in the void behind the battery. If you notice a problem, just peel it off and replace it with a new one. The difference in the picture quality is minor but apparent.

That's a good idea. I could just let my case cover up the excess plastic.

Just use a hole punch for the two cameras. The thickness of the film will protect the lenses. The Ghost Armor kit also has a camera protector. That what I use, works very well.

You don't want to use a vinyl (wet application) based protective film on the camera (Phantomskinz, Zagg, etc.) because the thickness and lack of optical clarity will significantly degrade the image as RiverofIce pointed out.

The best bet is to go clear, but if you must, use the rigid dry/static based films, as they are by far more optically clear.

I have seen on several threads that people are concerned about the camera lens and it getting scratched. The solution that I found was to get an Otter Box. Obviously it has a built in screen protector but also has protectors for the dual camera lens'. They aren't cheap at around $50 but the Otter Box has a warrany and it protects your investment better than any case on the market!

Does HTC/Sprint sell replacement backs? I'd rather have clear pics (w/o a protector) and if something happens just buy a replacement back cover with a fresh "lens".

I'm tempted to get one of the Chromatics...It adds color and protection to the camera/phone...Can't decide what color I want though:

Although they don't cover the lenses directly, it add more protection to it than having it bare.
