Camera shutter speed is awful!

Is anyone else having issues with shutter speed? I can't take pictures that are perfectly clear. Most of the people are clear, but usually someone is moving which leaves a big blur.

Before people say it's camera shake, I know the difference between shake and shutter blur. It seems the shutter is staying open too long to allow enough light in for proper exposure.

Help please.
 
I might not be up to date on comparable phones, but every camera phone I've ever used had a terrible shutter speed. That's just the nature of the beast.
 
This is why I don't rely on my phone for pics. If I know there's a chance I may be taking pics, I brine my camera along.

I have to agree. I took lots of photos with my BB Storm and didn't have the blur problem that I have with my Inc. The Storm did have a stabilize setting that might have made the difference. Would be nice of the Inc had a similar setting. Any third-party apps that might be better?
 
My previous "smart " phone was a Moto Q. It had a 1.3mp camera that took very low quality photos (noise, off-exposure, 3 second delay between pushing button and capturing photo, ect...) but at least they were not blurry.
 
To get a clear photo, tweak your settings to your right environment. Then, tap and hold on the screen where you want the camera to focus, it will take a second to focus, and then take the shot. IMO the shutter speed is very nice. I was taking pics out of my side window while driving and nothing was terribly blurry (except a car going by at the same time at ~120MPH)

It's a great cell phone camera, but still just a cell phone camera. If you want something amazing go get a DSLR..
 
The automatic exposure determined by the camera decides how slow or fast the shutter speed will be. The camera decides this based on whether it's relatively dark or bright in the place where you're trying to take the photo.

In general, phone cameras are not able to take a sharp picture of a moving object when you are in a dark setting because they will slow down the shutter speed (in order to get a proper exposure). The only exception is when it is dark enough for you to "freeze" the subject with the phone's flash, which should result in sharp pictures due to a relatively fast shutter speed.

Because we are able to control certain camera settings in the phone, I'd try increasing the ISO setting (when you're in a relatively dark place). This will also add noise to the photo, but at least the shutter speed should be faster.

use the screen to take the pic and focus on a object/subject.

Yup, I hate my Incredible because I thought it would give me great action shots like my Nikon D300. :D

OP. You can get an amazing camera/video camera for less than a smart phone ON a 2 year contract.

This is a smart phone first and foremost. You aren't going to get Nikon D300 quality.

Most phones I've seen have sub-par quality compared to the Incredible and I'm satisfied with what it delivers. Auto-focus is great - maybe you aren't waiting for it to focus.

Yea, I have a very nice Canon DLSR, and I am am familiar with changing iso speeds. I know this camera is no replacement for my DSLR, an I don't intend for it to be. I was just hoping that the Incredible's automatic iso setting would choose a proper setting for the lighting conditions, but I guess not. I will just have to crank it up and hope the noise doesn't bother me too much.

i have taken a handful of action pic's in bright sunlight and they came out great.

If i take a low light picture it looks good if everyone is pretty still.

Thus the blur issue, longer exposure = better low light quality, but the trade off can be annoying at times.

Maybe you should go to verizon and test out their display model to see if it functions better than your phone.

BTW im not trying to educate you on the topic, just throwing it out there for the others.
