Root Can I try a different camera apk??

I'm having some issues with my camera app while running MikG 2.5.X on my phone. I was thinking of (after a nandroid backup) removing the camera apk and installing a different one. Are there any camera apks out there that I can try with my MikG ROM?? The MikG camera app has some cool effects but NOT cool that it doesn't work for me :(

The last time my camera worked without a problem was with my stock rooted Gingerbread 2.3.3 ROM. Was simple and fine for me...is that camera apk available anywhere??

Ok, I didn't realize that caveat with the panorama camera.

Which brings up an interesting point...wonder if my camcorder works now if my camera doesn't? I would imagine not...will try. And of not, I'll need a camera apk where the camera AND the camcorder both work:-)
 
You should always Freeze the App instead of Removal. Only after you have froze it for a few days should you then try to remove it. This way if there are some issues you can defrost and get things back to normal.

VERY good point...I should keep that in mind...THANKS!!

So, if I freeze, say, the camera app, I can just install a different camera app right along side the frozen one without conflict?? I have frozen the stock browser app and I'm running Dolphin as my main browser for a long time now so I don't know why I'm asking/concerned about freezing the camera app...:confused:
