can i use adb for any android device?

well the title says it all. i used adb( sdk tools) for unlocking and flashing recovery to xoom tablet. i was just wondering if any other android device can be unlocked with it? and if so will the commands be same. i haven't tried it on any device, cause don't wanna mess up

adb can be used on other devices however it's limited to the device's instruction set. To answer your question. Probably not be able to use it as a ROOT TOOL. That particular device may have had its exploit through the adb usage that by now has been plugged. You can however use it to pull information from the device and now adb has a backup / restore option. The backup option looks fairly interesting.

so i can't use 'fastboot oem unlock' command or commands like 'adb reboot bootloader' for other devices? i have to know what commands suites the particular device?

no those commands will work. the commands will work since they are issued on a pc. all adb commands are universal. will it work on the particular device or not is the question.

so then i can flash tiamat recovery image( CWM) in any android device?

no, recovery is device specific. it has to be developed for the phone. you have to be careful on what you flash to the phone if you are rooted. flashing something not made for the phone could brick it.
