Root Can someone upload batterystats.bin please?

Hey folks,

Some time ago, the USB charging port broke off the mainboard and I had to resort to using an external charger to charge my batteries (one OEM, one extended). I then flashed MikG on and one of my batteries (OEM) kept showing 30% after charging, so I decided to wipe battery stats to see if that helped.

WELL, if you don't have the ability to charge via USB, it makes things complicated (so don't do it, and yes I know the Google engineer said long ago not to do it... should have listened!).

Now, I can't boot into the OS on my phone without wiping the stats every single time after I put in a fully charged battery (doesn't work with a partially charged battery). Strange, yes, but that's the deal. So, can someone upload their Evo's batterystats.bin file for me? It should be in data/system/.

Preferably you also use an extended battery, but I'll take whatever I can get!

Much appreciated!

Why not just reflash the ROM? or another one. I would be very cautious of accepting files from those I don't know

Already reflashed the ROM a couple of times in the beginning. Haven't tried another ROM yet. When I reflashed, it booted up the first time fine, but after I turned off the phone again, it started having the problem (HTC EVO 4G splash -> ANDROID chrome splash, but no MikG animation and then it just stays there forever). A few trial and error sessions later, I discovered that I could boot up the phone just fine if:

1) The battery I put in is full
2) I wipe the battery stats before trying to boot
It's important to note that the battery that was draining never got to drain to empty. So I'm trying to experiment to see if having an already built batterystats.bin will make a difference, since I'm not sure if it's building a correct one since I don't have the ability to bump charge via USB like Google and the manufs recommend.

And I'm hoping that I'd get the file from one of you fine folks that are always so ready to help others, which by my standards makes you more trustworthy than the average random internet stranger. :)

Will do. This is a very odd situation that I've never really encountered with my Android phones. I think the fact that I can't charge it via USB has somewhat exacerbated the situation. It's just odd that the OS won't boot unless the battery is full and the file is wiped. I don't know if using two different sizes of batteries is making the situation worse either. Have much investigation to do...

Ok it looks like MikG 3.11 was the main culprit. All other ROMs are doing fine. And here I thought MikG was the most stable out of all the custom ROMs out there. Sigh.

I tried a few stock rooted ROMs (with various versions of sense and some different addons) and am trying CM7 (or some other AOSP kind) and SOS N tonight (do you have any other recommendations? I prefer ROMs that are mostly done, with VERY few bugs, and ideally everything working).

If you mean which MikG 3.11 did I use, it was the full wipe version.

Oh and eventually even wiping batterystats.bin didn't seem to get it to boot.

I have no idea what the difference is or how to tell if there is any change in the code, but I upgraded to 3.11 via the patch.

I haven't had any of these problems that folk have been mentioning.

I'm using Nitrous 1.44 and it works great for me. I need to flash a Kernel (still on stock) not that its really needed as far as battery power or anything I just want a bit more controlled environment.
