Root can stock be customized

first of all, thanks to help in here, i have been able to install several custom ROMs and have become pretty good at it.

i know that the stock ROM is..what it is...and stuck with all the bloat crap. hence, enter the wonderful world of custom ROMs.

i have seen the titanium app listed all over the forum. with the mention of titanium, i have also seen posts about "freezing" bloat as opposed to totally deleting them (because some of them are required for update.

here come the questions:

1 - are bootstrapper and titanium the same kind of app?

2 - if not, is titanium an app that will allow a rooted DX with the stock ROM to be "customized" by freezing the useless bloat?

i am asking this because as of right now i cannot get my exchange email account to work when using a custom ROM. this includes apex..gummyjar...and liberty. because of the importance of the email account and the fact that it only works with my stock ROM, i am stuck with using my stock ROM right now.

titanium requires root to perform backups and freeze apps. it does not root your phone or boot to recovery.

1. - No
2. - No. root with Z4 root then freeze apps with TIBU

oh..and i wanted to add that all i am looking to do with the stock ROM is to cut down all the clutter and battery use for the bloat that i dont even use.

Im in class and can't answer all your questions at the moment but fyi I believe exchange will work on darkslide 4.2 ...I highly recommend it ...

Have you had IT dept help with connecting to Exchange? There were issues with GJ and Liberty (now resolved, but update not released yet). However, I've had no issues with Exchange 2007 in any of the other roms I've tried (Apex, Fission, Rubix Blurry).

Titanium is an app, data and file backup where recovery is an image of your entire phone with all it's data. Both are required if you're going to have a reliable backup plan.
