Can the SF dialer theme be changed?

I was wondering if there was a way to change the appearance of the dialer? Someone a while back had posted on the "Post your Wallpaper" thread an all black dialer.. I was thinking it might be a joke.. because it was the person's first post.. and I went to find it again and it is gone.. Something like "Superdark Blackish Theme? Sounds a little suspect.. lol

anyway.. I sure would love a really understated dialer without the orange, green, blue and gray. Anyone?

Most themes modify the dialer...,but this requires root and clockwork recovery...for nonroot options i believe there are a few market apps that replace the dialer....but i don't know the names of the apps
 
I just always thought it was a little odd....
After all.. these devices that we all have are first and foremost a "PHONE"...lol... and to not be able to change the appearance of the dialer was always a bit of an oddity to me... I mean.. you can change virtually every single other aspect of the phone... but not the dialer.... hmmmmmm

The way android phones handle the phone applications are the same way the handle any other app essentially....it has permissions to.access certain hardware and permissions to do.certain things with it....so it can be themed like any other apk but it just requires root to do so....its not particularly hard to do it once you get the hang of it
