Hah, nice. There's a guy on another forum I requent a lot that posted a screenshot of his account info, showing 100GBs+ usage on his Droid X, lol. That's crazy on a 3G phone. I'm pretty sure he was running his whole house off his phone, lol. I'm assuming you're tethering too?

Most data I've used is around 15GBs when I was away on business a lot and tethered to my laptop most of the month. I usually average around 2GBs if I don't have to travel for work that month.

Yep.. couple of games off steam, few movies, tons of music and Xbox Live (and web browsing of course). Its a record month for me!

Lucky bugger... really! I don't even have 2GB to use a month. With the exception of the new unlimited-everything plan from T-Mobile, all the British data plans are restricted to 1GB a month at most. Plus the fastest speed the HSPA+ mobile networks here can handle seems to be 3Mbps (which is enough to stream video, but you then have the cap to worry about).

I just found out today that there is no way to keep my unlimited data plan.
They told me months ago that I was grandfathered in , but that was obviously BS.

I wouldn't mind so much if they had the free 4GB upgrade still but that isn't even available.

Not BS. They caught even those of us who work for Verizon by surprise when they stopped grandfathering unlimited data.

No, I mean that its BS that they did that to the people that already had the unlimited plan. I know its true, I just can't believe they did it.

I had to switch to a shared plan but thankfully I mostly use WIFI, but I'd still like to have unlimited.

They gave me free Hot Spot but that doesn't help now that I'm limited.

Exactly! The vast majority of those 11 GIGS are from Pandora and NBC Olympics video streaming.

Once people start streaming more and more HD video, those gigs go by quick.

Well, the Olympics are over now, so that should cut back on your data use.

It is crazy that they start capping users now when phones are capable of doing so much. I had unlimited on my Eris and used very little data. Can't do much with an Eris. The possibilities are endless with the GNex. I installed the data widget so I can keep track. The billing period is almost over -- I guess I can go crazy!

What's really ridiculous is that they start introducing it RIGHT when there is widespread 4G LTE infrastructure. While LTE doesn't completely remove it, the limits on it are far higher than the 3G network, which is rapidly showing it age after 10 or so years. I can maybe see having some monthly limit prevent ridiculous usage, but 2 GB for $30? You serious? What is this, 2002? Like I mentioned earlier, if you really hammered it hard, you could use that in about 3 hours. Yep, you just payed $30 that month for that much time on the network. If I did that math correctly, that's 16 cents a minute for 11 MB a minute. Its not quite, but still pretty close to a penny for a megabyte of data.

Maybe I have very high expectations and I am being unrealistic, since I will be honest that I have no idea what it should cost. I do realize that wireless networks and the wired network that connect them aren't cheap. But are you serious that one floppy disk worth of data cost Verizon a penny's worth of bandwidth?

Except the reason for the cap now is because phones are capable of doing so much. When phones couldn't do much, they had no need for the cap -- no one could use much data. The reason for limiting data now is that the devices no longer "limit" data use for them.
