Help Can you hide video's ?

I have some video's on my phone that I don't want others to see. No matter where on the phone I put them they show up in the gallery. I even buried the videos 2 folders deep and they still pop up in the gallery. The only thing I can think of is to back up the videos, delete them, than reinstall them when I want to watch them. Anybody got an idea or better way of doing this ?

Simple way is rename the .mp4 extension.

for example file called
ncis.mp4 changed to
ncis.mp4.b or
ncis.mpf
or you get the idea, the phone will not see it as a viewable file, when you want to watch it go back and change the extension back.
for that reason I suggest adding .b behind the .mp4 so you dont forget what it was.

An easier way would be to put it in it's own folder and create a new file in that folder. Call the new file ".nomedia" without the quotes and the media scanner will bypass that directory.

true, but that way anyone browsing the files would see the video and be able to play it.

why not use videovault from the market? i have it and it works great. it was like a buck way back when i got it. dunno if the price is the same and i'm sure there are free apps that'll do the same.

Yeah but he was just asking how to hide it from the gallery and anyone with half a brain who saw .mp4.b or w/e would realize what was going on. Not trying to dis on u optimus just stating facts. He could always hide them like 30 folders deep with a nomedia file of he really wanted to be secure or change the file extension entirely from mp4 to some like .txt or .pdf which would effectively mislead anyone browsing through the phone.

Even easier would be to get an entirely different sd card put those videos on it then keep it under the battery cover or whatever for when he wants those videos.

The last part is what I would do especially since I'm assuming that these are explicit videos. I have 3 sd cards. I had one from my old phone then I bought my prevail which came with one then I had an issue worth that phone (see shabby mod 0.5) and I returned it without the sd card and got a new phone with another sd card.

I didn't mean to keep the sd card but I forgot about out entirely until I was giving it back to the fit at walmart who didn't even try to turn it on or check for the sd card or even battery for that matter.

Thank you New Optimus right again. A thanks also goes out to you Necrotoxin. I combine both of your ideas. My videos are very well hidden. I first created a new folder and came up with a name that sounds and looks like some kind of important file. Than inside the files I named them .nomedia.mp4.b I can still open them up without changing the extension.
